Is Nissan Kicks a Replacement for Juke?
MANILA: Nissan Kicks is a new crossover offering from the house of Nissan. The car is coming out in a scenario when the entire auto market is going crazy over subcompact cars. As for Kicks, it comes from a family that already has compact SUV’s like Nissan Juke and X-Trail.
But the big question is, whether Kicks is a replacement or a companion of the recently launched Nissan Juke. Ironically, both cars have some striking designing similarities and dimension-wise too they show no major difference. Thus, giving our ‘replacement’ though more grounds.
Maybe for the UK market, it can be a Juke replacement, where the car is running for quite some time now, And not for the Philippines, as yesterday only the Juke went on sale here. Thought, the company officials has confirmed a Nissan Kicks launch at a global level, with its first launch initiated in the Latin American market. Any word from Nissan Philippines on the issue is still awaited and according to us, Nissan PH will wait for the Juke market response before adding another car to its kit. Nissan is expanding its market reach in the market by the way of new dealerships.
The same strategy will be followed by Nissan at the global level, as the automaker is currently under “studies” of Kicks potential beyond the Latin American market. As for the Latin American market, the car will go on sale from the start of 2016 and will be built in Resende, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The said plant began operation back in 2014, and currently manufactures cars like Nissan Micra, Versa and March. Now, as Kicks production is kicking-off under the PhP 9.04 billion investment scheme, the plant will be generating 600 more jobs.
The production version of Nissan Kick is created keeping in the art and culture of Brazil. Two efficient teams from Japan (Nissan’s Global Design Center) and Brazil ( Nissan Design America Studios) worked in day and night in collaboration, thus preparing a ‘top-notch’ auto machine.
A history sneak- peak into Kicks Concept-
The concept was first showcased back in 2012 as an Extreme concept and years later in 2014 a modified version of it was seen in 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show. The Kicks Concept was later seen in the 2015 Buenos Aires Motor Show with bit changes and looked closer to the production version.
