Kia Carnival among Autotrader’s ‘Best New Cars for 2022’

MANILA: US-headquartered new, used, certified second-hand car aggregator Autotrader has recognized the Kia Carnival MPV as one of the "Best New Cars for 2022."

In a statement, Kia America Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President Steven Center said, “Inclusion of the Carnival MPV among Autotrader’s ‘Best New Cars for 2022’ confirms why this vehicle has shattered sales and consumer expectations. The experts at Autotrader have discovered in the Carnival all that is core to the Kia experience — design, quality, value, and refinement.”

According to Autotrader, the Carnival MPV defies consumer expectations with a design evocative of the popular SUV segment while offering even more of what today's family wants in a vehicle of this size and purpose.

“The Kia Carnival is notable for two specific reasons. First, it proves you don’t need to buy from a traditional luxury brand to get a truly luxurious vehicle and second, Kia has taken the best parts of a family car and combined those with the utility, look, and appeal of a high-end SUV. Kia vehicles are so significantly different today versus just a few years ago, new car shoppers owe it to themselves to test drive a Kia before making a final decision,” Autotrader Executive Editor Brian Moody stated.

In 2021, the Carnival had a 9.3% share of the MPV market, up 3.3% over the Sedona in 2020. Between 2008 and 2020, Carnival MPV sales outpaced overall Sedona sales in its first full year at retail. Conquests from other MPV manufacturers account for nearly 75% of the Carnival MPV sales. In January 2022, the average time from delivery to retail sale for dealer inventory was under five days.

Last month, the all-new Carnival arrived in the Philippines. According to Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada, this grand utility vehicle (GUV) offers “first-class treatment worthy of a VIP.” Kia Philippines currently offers the Carnival SX 8AT variant, which is priced at P2.988 million.

The Best New Cars for 2022 includes 12 vehicles chosen by an Autotrader team of experts that tested and rated new models based on a number of criteria. Since there are so many new and updated vehicles for 2022, the editors concentrated on models that will be available in dealers  within the next nine months, as well as vehicles that they believe offer great value or are pioneering in some other manner. The Kia Telluride was included in the list in 2020, while the Kia K5 and Kia Sorento were awarded in 2021, making this the third year in a row that a Kia has received a spot on this highly competitive list.
