Lamborghini turns over an Urus Performante to Italian State Police

MANILA: A Lamborghini Urus Performante has joined the fleet of the Italian State Police.

Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann handed over the keys of the new vehicle, which will enter into service in 2024, to Italy's Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi in a turnover ceremony on Tuesday.

It was in 2004 when Automobili Lamborghini and the Italian State Police established their partnership. The Urus Performante is the sixth Lamborghini vehicle to become part of the Highway Police fleet. Alongside the Huracán LP610-4, the super SUV will be utilized for special services such as the urgent medical transport of organs and plasma.

“It is with great pleasure that we are continuing our 20-year cooperation with the Italian State Police. Knowing that our cars are used for public duties and, above all, for crucial operations to save human lives, can only make me and the whole company proud. These initiatives, which bring us great satisfaction, demonstrate our innate close ties with Italy,” Winkelmann stated.

Following police specifications, Lamborghini specialists refitted the Urus Performante, beginning with the exterior. Lamborghini Centro Stile created the livery with the traditional Italian State Police blue color and white. Reflective film bearing the police emblems has been put on the doors, and a two-tone electric siren and a 360-degree blue LED light bar have been placed on the roof.

Various essential components for public security service have been added to the cockpit, such as an armored weapon box, a flip-down message display, and a trunk compartment specifically designed to store service equipment and a defibrillator for emergency first aid. The most notable feature is the installation of a data logger and display in a portable refrigerator designed for the transportation of organs, allowing for continuous interior temperature monitoring.

The Urus Performante is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 656 horsepower and 850 Newton-meters of torque. It can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in just 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 306 kph.
