MG Philippines may introduce IM LS7 soon

MANILA: Morris Garages (MG) Philippines, under the distributorship of SAIC Motor Philippines, might soon add the all-new IM LS7 fully electric crossover to its locally available growing roster of electric vehicles (EVs).

One example of the aforementioned vehicle is present at the soon-to-open MG Gallery. The latter alone can be a clue of the model’s imminent arrival, as MG Philippines says the facility will function as a way for the brand to display its “past, present, and future.” 

For further context, the MG IM LS7 was first previewed for the Philippines at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, along with the recently launched MG 3 and G50 Plus, the MG 4 Power, the locally available MG ZS EV, and the upcoming MG RX9, among others.

MG Philippines has not released exact specifications for the future locally available LS7 EV, but the international version’s powertrain can generate up to 560 horsepower and 725 Newton Meters of torque. It likewise features a maximum range of up to 530 kilometers from a single charge.

In terms of appearance, the EV in question boasts a slick and streamlined shape, coupled with dimensions fitting it within the midsize five-seater crossover segment. It also has sharp-looking LED lightning elements, an eye-catching roof-mounted spoiler, and a set of 20-inch wheels. Note that the model was designed and developed by the Chinese-based IM Motors, a joint venture between SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and  Zhangjiang Hi-Tech.

Another notable feature of the IM LS7’s global version is the Evolvable Intelligent Driving system, which leverages chips from international tech giant Nvidia. As per SAIC, the latter can provide advanced navigation guidance and driver-assist safety features, among other things. 

The EV model also has a tech-heavy interior fitted with Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) screens. The said displays are underpinned by an in-house-developed operating system powered by a Qualcomm 8155 processor. As a side note, the aforementioned Qualcomm chip belongs to the well-known Snapdragon line of processors, which provides processing power for contemporary Samsung Galaxy smartphones. 

MG Philippines has yet to determine the exact date for the launch of the IM LS7 as well. Regardless, we hope it will join the brand’s lineup soon.
