MG reveals Cyberster roadster, CyberCUBE program at Shanghai
MANILA: The MG Cyberster, the newest electric vehicle (EV) concept of MG, was recently launched at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show. It takes pride in a whopping 800 km range and is fitted with L3 autonomous driving technology. It can go from zero -to-60 kph in less than three seconds.
The sleek roadster takes styling inspiration from the iconic MGB of the past, while distinctly showing the future-forward perspective of the auto brand.
Apart from the debut of the Cyberster, MG also unveiled its newest program, which aims for the direct involvement of MG enthusiasts to make the Cyberster concept real.
Known as the MG CyberCUBE, this co-creation platform allows people to be in charge of getting the Cyberster to life.
The MG CyberCUBE is an immersive and bold business model that is designed to function through aggressive crowd-funding. The outcome of this massive crowd-funding campaign will determine whether or not the MG Cyberster will be subjected to mass production.
MG was able to determine that if it can produce 5,000 crowd-funding shares, with every share amounting to RMB 1,000 (approximately P7,500 per share), the project will be considered successful and fully prepared for mass production.
If the MG Cyberster becomes a standard offering in the international MG range, it is expected to mark an important achievement in MG history — an innovative EV sports car with autonomous driving technology that originated from a British brand with almost a century of heritage as well as the comeback of an MG roadster to the iconic product range of the auto brand.
