MG UK delivers over 4,000 units in first 2 months of year

MANILA: Following a set of impressive sales numbers, MG Motor has secured its place as UK's fastest-growing car brand.

Carrying a record-breaking 2021, the brand's success continued into the new year, with sales in January and February reaching 4,471 units, exceeding the figures for the entire year of 2017.

Per data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), this gives the brand a year-to-date market share of 3.31%, up from 1.4% in 2021.

Sales of all drivetrains offered by MG increased by 155% — 441% for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and 40% for pure electric vehicles (EV). The MG ZS was the top-selling model, moving 4,042 units which accounts for 29% of total sales.

With over 39 new dealer partners joining its network over the past year, MG continues to be one of the most enticing investment opportunities for automotive franchises in the UK. Vertu Motors, RRG, and Arnold Clark are among the largest dealer groups in the country.

In the UK, MG presently offers six models, including three plug-in hybrids — the MG ZS EV, MG 5 EV, and MG HS Plug-in Hybrid — all of which are supported by the company's rapidly expanding dealer network.
