MIAS 2025: GWM PH rolls out updated Cannon

MANILA: Great Wall Motor (GWM) Philippines has officially launched the updated Cannon pickup truck at the ongoing Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2025.

Moreover, the brand also showcased the upcoming Haval H9 midsize sport utility vehicle.

GWM Cannon

Per the brand, the updated Cannon is an attractive proposition for buyers who want a tough but stylish ride. The aforementioned is due to its lengthy seven-year warranty, combined with its inherent traits as a ladder-frame, 4x4 vehicle.

At maximum, the Cannon’s 2.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine and nine-speed automatic transmission setup can generate up to 178 horsepower (hp) and 480 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

Compared to the outgoing model, the new Cannon’s output saw a 12-percent increase in power and a 20-percent increase in torque. For reference, the previous version can make up to 158 hp and 400 Nm. 

Additionally, the model comes standard with a torque-on-demand 4x4 system. It also comes with the following creature comforts and safety features: 

• Adaptive cruise control
• Automatic emergency braking
• Lane keep assist
• Six airbags
• 12.3-inch touchscreen 
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Voice commands
• Wireless smartphone charging pad
• Ventilated seats

Pricing for the GWM Cannon’s sole variant is set at P1.498 million. 

Haval H9

As mentioned, GWM Philippines also previewed the Haval H9. No pricing for the ride has been revealed just yet, but it has plenty of characteristics local SUV buyers might want. 

For starters, the seven-seater GWM Haval H9 dons an imposing exterior design. Paired with the same 2.4-liter turbodiesel powertrain on the updated Cannon, the result is a ride that promises performance. 

Additionally, the model comes with plenty of interior niceties, such as a sizable central touchscreen, plenty of polished decorative trimmings, and plush leather upholstery. 

GWM’s local arm shared no further specifications of the Haval H9, so let us wait for its official launch around the final quarter of the year.
