Mitsubishi Motors to discontinue Pajero in Germany, introduces Final Edition model
MANILA: Mitsubishi Pajero is sold under the nameplate 'Shogun' in Europe. The ongoing model underpins company’s BK platform and is soon going to bid farewell to the continent. Mitsubishi Motors Germany recently announced its plan to discontinue the Pajero. Unless a new car is introduced, Montero Sport will take its spot. In Europe, it will be called the Shogun Sport and become Mitsubishi’s largest SUV offering.

The two trims display unique styling cues making them easily distinguishable. First, discussing the three-door model, it will feature following style and utility traits -
- 18-inch wheels with the unique eight-hole design
- Off-road oriented huge tires
- Black matte finish bar rails
- Real skid plate
- Locking rear differential

- Automatic energy braking
The five-door Pajero Final Edition showcases styling clues like -
- 20-inch wheels with multi-spoke, low-profile tires
- Silver matte finished front grille
- ‘PAJERO’ spelled letter-by-letter on the edge of the hoo
- Real skid plate
- Black leather upholstery
- Upgraded touch-screen infotainment system
- Power seats
On the performance front, both the three-and five-door models feature the new 3.2-litre Di-D diesel engine with Variable Geometry Turbo tech. This mill generates a maximum power output of 192 PS along with a peak torque of 441 Nm. The two Final Edition models come with a standard four-wheel drive tunning that is complemented by an INVECS-II manual mode five-speed automatic gearbox.
More update on Pajero’s future -
It was late in 2015 when Mitsubishi Motors CEO and President, Osamu Masuko revealed company’s plan to suspend development of Pajero’s successor due to lack of resources. However, post the Nissan - Mitsubishi takeover in late 2016, things may change, and the legendary Pajero nameplate may return.
