Mitsubishi Outlander gets 5-star Latin NCAP rating

MANILA: The Mitsubishi Outlander earned a five-star rating in the 2022 Latin New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).

Latin NCAP gives safety rating based on evaluations of the vehicle’s adult occupant protection (passive/secondary safety), child occupant protection (passive/secondary safety), pedestrian and vulnerable road users protection, and safety assist systems.

Contributing to the Outlander’s achievement of the top rating are its modern safety technologies, including active blind spot assist, rear automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, and forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection. The vehicle is also built with a high-rigidity Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body and seven supplemental restraint system airbags.

With these innovative features, the crossover was also given the highest five-star ratings in the Australia and Japan NCAP.

The Outlander is Mitsubishi’s flagship model. It combines the Japanese carmaker’s expertise in electrification and all-wheel control technologies. Its gasoline model has sold around 210,000 units across over 40 countries, while its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model was introduced in 2021.

In the Philippines, the Outlander is available in PHEV variant only. It is priced at P2.998 million.
