New or Old Which Godzilla Will Grace the Philippines Land at MIAS
MANILA: Nissan Philippines last year revealed its intentions to bring its speedster on the country's road. As per its plans, it will be a dual treat for the Filipinos as the GT-R will come accompanied by Nismo GT-R. But here comes the twist in the story, the 2016 New York Show that is scheduled just before 2016 Manila International Auto Show that will be staging the 2017 Nissan GT-R, 'the new Godzilla'. So, the question is which GT-R generation will acquire the center stage at the 2016 MIAS.
The curiosity further intensifies knowing the fact that the Indian market was graced with the previous generation GT-R at the recently concluded 2016 Auto Expo. So, the chances for us getting the same version as the Indian market gets higher, as both are at the same receiving end, experiencing Nissan GT-R for the very first time.
So, it's better we discuss the Indian launched GT-R in detail. A Porsche 911 Turbo killer, the GT-R engine specs reads a 3.8L V6 mill that generates a maximum power of 524 bhp along with a 612 Nm of peak torque. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, it delivers power to all four wheels. Also, the effective and renowned 4WD system allows this 1.8-tonne monster to cover 0 to 100 kmph distance in under 3 seconds along with providing intense grip on the corners.
On the designing front, the GT-R embodies a jet fighter-style canopy body that is is well focused on the aerodynamic front. In all its sharp headlights, traditional four-ring taillights, carbon fibre diffuser, and striking multi spoke alloy wheels make the Godzilla look even better, even scarier. The interior too is well configured and is in-line with all supercar requirements. So inside, you can expect to see high-tech sensors monitoring the tiniest of movement and massive touch display. Though the car comes in 2+2 configuration, but the rear seats are best advised for short rides.
Now some update on 2017 GT-R that is all set to witness a global debut at the soon to start 2016 New York Auto Show. Exclusively for the auto show, Nissan has released a teaser image of the all-new GT-R. The single black-out picture only highlights its two-ring tail light and Nissan chrome badge proudly placed at the center.
Though Nissan has over the years tweaked its GT-R in one way or the other, but, this time, it feels different. Though nothing is clear, but we are expecting to see some major design language transformations along with under the hood changes, all making the Nissan performance car ‘the Godzilla’ more power hungry.
