New tech, efficient engines debut in Land Rover Discovery Sport
MANILA: The new Discovery Sport, the "family-friendly" five-plus-two-seat premium compact SUV of Land Rover, has been improved with high-performance, next-generation mild hybrid Ingenium diesel engines, along with the newest Pivi Pro and Pivi infotainment system, and a Discovery Sport Black Special Edition that includes a 286hp Ingenium petrol engine.
After the introduction of the P300e plug-in hybrid during the early part of the year, numerous additional new engine alternatives are now available for the Discovery Sport, which includes the new-generation efficient four-cylinder diesel engines of the auto brand.
The New Discovery Sport is available with two diesel options, the D200 (201hp) and the D165 (161hp), which bring improved efficiency, refinement, and smoother power. Both utilize the newest mild-hybrid technology of Land Rover, matched with all-wheel drive (AWD), which features a battery to store energy consumed under deceleration.
The benefit is improved fuel economy and a seamless stop-start operation. This provides customers a glimpse of the advantages of an electrified car without having to plug in and charge.
Meanwhile, the Discovery Sport Black Edition is powered by a turbocharged petrol engine that generates 286hp for more effortless performance. The vehicle also includes a range of interior and exterior design upgrades for the ideal combination of family versatility, attention-grabbing appeal, and the distinctive all-terrain capability of the Discovery Sport.
The most innovative system of the Land Rover, the Pivi, and the Pivi Pro is currently available for the Discovery Sport. Reconfigured intuitive menu structure enables users to experience the most well-known functions and features from a single home screen in two taps at the most.
With the launch of the cutting-edge Pivi infotainment of Land Rover, the interactive experience has been altered in both vehicles.
The system is prepared to go once it is turned on and there is no delay due to a discreet battery mean and data plan. The system is also activated through a new electrical vehicle architecture and is accessible as the more innovative Pivi Proform S-specification or the standard Pivi.
Scheduled software updates are available over-the-air at no cost, through the vehicle's dual-modem embedded SIM. This guarantees that customers will always have the most updated vehicle features, applications, and maps without the necessity of visiting a retailer.
In terms of streaming media and music, virtual media services in the Discovery Sport include wireless charging with a signal-boosting option, Bluetooth connectivity for two phones being used at the same time, and Spotify incorporated directly within the infotainment system for the first time, with data included as well.
The new second-generation Activity Key is also present. This enables customers to start the vehicle’s engine, lock, and unlock any door when they are nearby, without requiring a conventional key fob.
The activation of the smart new cabin air filtration system, which is included aside from the existing cabin air ionization feature, allows the filtration of strong odors, pollen, allergens, and fine particulate matter often found in high-traffic and urban areas. Customers can also monitor the levels on the touchscreen to ensure that the air within is cleaner compared to the air outside.
Technology upgrades also include a range of new advanced driver assistance features like the rear traffic monitor with automatic braking and the new rear collision monitor.
The new rear collision monitor utilizes radar for continuous monitoring of the vehicle’s rear, which means that the Discovery Sport is set to decrease the impact of a collision for its occupants.
The inclusion of the 3D Surround Camera, on the other hand, allows the driver to see what is going on around the vehicle at speeds up to 31kph. This enables navigation and maneuvering in difficult terrain to be more convenient and safer.
The new systems match with the ClearSight rearview mirror and ClearSight Ground View technologies launched in 2019. Smart camera technology joins together images below the bonnet, while the ClearSight Rear View Mirror offers interchangeable video screen and rearview mirror for improved visibility.
Aside from its convenient five-plus-two design, the Discovery Sport also features 40:20:40 split-folding, second-row seats that offer 24 possible seating arrangements, which guarantee versatility for family trips and adventures.
The new Discovery Sport can be availed in R-Dynamic S Plus guise and other highlights include a powered tailgate, 20-inch wheels, and privacy glass.
The Land Rover New Discovery Sport is currently available in the UK. Buyers can select from the variants such as Discovery Sport Black, R-Dynamic HSE, R-Dynamic SE, R-Dynamic S Plus (D165, D200, and P200), Discovery Sport S, SE, HSE, and R-Dynamic S (P300e).
