Nissan Gets Caught in a Prison of their Own Devise

Nissan Gets Caught in a Prison of their Own Devise

MANILA: Rapid expansion of the automotive industry has sure blessed the consumers and autofans with new and improved cars and automotive technology. The increasing demand for cars has not only churned out huge revenues for car manufacturers, but has made people’s love for cars into a globally recognized sub-culture. With so much winning going on in the automotive world, there have to be times when you face something that should not be. The anomaly this time is the Japanese automotive giant Nissan Motors, who have been faced by allegations from South Korean government for tinkering with their emission figures. Finally after last year’s Dieselgate Scandal that affected not only the accused Volkswagen but several German brands as well, the Japanese have finally managed to join the frontlines as well.

We have already heard the news about how Nissan recently announced their newfound ties with Mitsubishi Motors. It might also be noted that the latter was recently panned by authorities for wrongly presenting fuel-economy figures for their cars. It was this incident that sparked the Nissan-Mitsubishi collaboration in first place as it was a huge blow to their image, despite of highly satisfactory sales figures in 2015. Looking at the recent mishap, it is certain that things aren’t as bright and merry in the automotive industry. Nissan is now infected with the same curse that it was trying to save Mitsubishi from.

Vehicle in question is the diesel variant for Nissan Qashqai crossover, that is marketed by the brand in South Korea and is manufactured in the UK. According to the country’s environmental ministry, the Japanese carmaker has been accused of using a defeat device in diesel engines to pass emission tests in nearly 800 Qashqai models. This was also followed by an announcement of a formal complaint being filed against the president of Nissan Motor Korea. In Nissan’s defense, they have totally denied all claims by the environmental ministry and have also issued a counter statement. The statement clearly states that Nissan doesn’t use such illegal gimmicks in their vehicles and the same has been proven by the tests conducted by European authorities. We don’t know about you but similar things also happened in the 1940’s when both German and Japanese were accused of crimes against humanity and gassing their victims with Europe trying to cover up the facts. (Is this how World War III begins !?)
