Nissan Juke Nismo showcased at 2018 PIMS
MANILA: While we were still reeling under the Honda Civic RS’ launch earlier this year, Nissan has done the unthinkable. The Japanese carmaker has got the Juke Nismo to PIMS 2018. In the first half of this year, Nissan in a press conference said that they plan to expand big time with the Nismo brand. The Nissan Juke Nismo is the first step in this direction.
The aggressive stance is a giveaway that this Nissan Juke means business. Flared wheel arches, aggressive bumpers, side skirts, and that huge wing are all indications of the serious performance intentions of the crossover. The Nissan Juke Nismo also has red inserts both on the outside as well as inside. These 18-inch wheels that you see here are also performance oriented and the alloys are lightweight as well. The ride height is lowered too, for better aerodynamics as well as performance.
Inside, one gets sportier dials, a full carbon fibre treatment to few components, leather race seats, red inserts in the seat belts and more. Nissan has also stiffened the springs and the dampers now get an aggressive setting as well. The steering wheel is a thick-rimmed unit and there is also a boost gauge beside it. Nissan has also updated the brakes to go with the overall look as well as added performance.
Long gone is the older 116 PS 1.6-litre petrol engine. In its place comes a turbocharged 1.6-litre motor that is good for 190 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. An 8-speed ratio automatic transmission sends power to all the four wheels via a Haldex clutch. There are also paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for additional comfort and to enhance the handling capability. It is said that Nissan might also get the 6-speed manual transmission. That is if there is sufficient demand for it.
So, what does this all cost? Nothing as of now. Nissan hasn’t announced the prices or availability of the Juke Nismo. It is likely that the company wants to keep the buzz going and will announce the official launch as well as prices sometime next year. We can’t wait and are sure that you can’t too!
