Peugeot MPV lineup now fully electric
MANILA: To address the growing customer demand for electric vehicles (EVs), Peugeot is speeding up its transition to electrification and will sell its popular multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) range, which includes the Rifter and Traveller, exclusively as full electric models starting this year. The e-Rifter and e-Traveller, which are already on the market, cater to the demands of businesses and fleets, as well as private buyers.

The e-Rifter and e-Traveller are both powered by a 100kW electric motor and a 50kWh battery. The ease of use, low running costs, versatility, and practicality of the e-Rifter and e-Traveller have already impressed fleets and private owners.
The move came after the UK had the biggest year-on-year increase in EV registrations. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealed that in 2021, fully electric vehicles accounted for more than one out of every nine new vehicles sold, a 76% increase from 2020.
In a statement, Peugeot Managing Director Julie David said, “Peugeot is committed to electrification, with a goal of offering a fully electric variant across our entire model lineup by 2024. Already we offer a fully electric van across our entire LCV portfolio, so with our award-winning MPV range now exclusively available as electric vehicles, we’re catering for the growing demand for zero-tailpipe emissions vehicles.”
The Peugeot e-Rifter is available in five-seat or seven-seat variants, and is based on Peugeot’s EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2). It is powered by a 100-kW electric motor and a 50-kWh battery and can travel up to 276 km on a single charge. A zero-80% charge only takes about 30 minutes, thanks to the fast-charging capability.
The e-Rifter’s five seat variants are offered in Allure Premium and GT trims, while seven-seat variants are exclusively available in Allure Premium.
Meanwhile, the Peugeot e-Traveller is offered in two body styles: Standard and Long. Both can accommodate up to eight occupants. For maximum convenience, Long variants combine a long wheelbase with a long rear overhang. The e-Traveller, which is also powered by a 50-kWh battery and a 100-kW electric motor, can go up to 238 km between charges. With 100kW rapid charging, a zero-80% charge also takes around 30 minutes, similar to the e-Rifter.
Standard variants are available in Active and Allure trims, whereas Long variants are exclusively available in Allure trim.
The new Peugeot 308 and 308 SW, which will be available in the UK soon, will add to Peugeot’s EV lineup. Both models will be initially offered with plug-in hybrid powertrain, with fully electric versions arriving as early as 2023.
Peugeot provides various services to assist customers in making the transition from internal combustion to electric energy. Peugeot’s charge point partner, Pod Point, is fully certified under the UK government’s Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) and Workplace charging scheme. Due a considerable rise in demand for charge points, the support of the scheme moves to focus on tenants in flats and rented accommodation, landlords, social housing operators, charities, and local businesses. Homeowners have until January 31 to place their order with Pod Point and qualify for the £350 EVHS incentive. However, Peugeot will continue to include a free six-month BP Pulse charging subscription with every new electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, providing customers access to a nationwide network of charge points.
Customers can also choose to buy their Peugeot with a single service plan that covers all necessary maintenance. After each service, owners will receive a certificate of battery capacity, and the battery is covered under warranty for eight years/100,000 miles for 70% of its capacity.
Peugeot car owners can also stay connected to their vehicle on the road with the MyPeugeot mobile app, which allows them to check, schedule, start, or delay charging remotely, as well as to optimize range by pre-conditioning the interior to 21 degrees.
Peugeot is also developing the next generation of low-emission cars. The first Peugeot e-Expert Hydrogen was unveiled last month, and will be first offered in Germany and France. It uses hydrogen plug-in fuel cell technology and can go up to 399 km between refuelings, which take just three minutes at designated hydrogen fuel stations. With the new e-Expert Hydrogen, Peugeot is establishing itself as a key player in the new energy sector.
