Peugeot PH reports 89% sales increase in Q1, unveils dealerships and new 2008 SUV

MANILA: Peugeot Philippines continues to develop under its new distributor, Astara, with high retail sales, new dealerships, and the introduction of the new 2008 SUV in the first quarter of 2022.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the Peugeot 2008?

The Peugeot 2008 is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged PureTech engine that produces 130hp and 230Nm of torque.
  • How much is the new Peugeot 2008?

The new Peugeot 2008 is priced at P1.55 million.
  • Overall retail sales for the first quarter climbed by 89% year over year. The 5008 and 3008 SUVs, which were unveiled last January and February, respectively, drove the record first quarter performance.

Four new dealerships have also joined Peugeot Philippines' expanding dealer network, bringing the brand's total number of dealerships in the country to seven. Among the new dealerships are ANC Group's Peugeot Balintawak, Angcore Group's Peugeot Davao, Automotive Icon, Inc.'s Peugeot Alabang, and The Gateway Group's Peugeot Cebu. All four dealerships are now constructing their new showrooms, which will open later this year.

“We continue to make progress with our plans since relaunching the brand in January, and this momentum is being driven by our lineup of global Peugeot vehicles that is allowing us to become a premium auto brand of choice for Filipinos.” Peugeot Philippines Managing Director Raoul Picello stated. “Together with our growing dealer family, we remain fully committed to making the Peugeot brand accessible to more Filipinos nationwide, allowing us to better serve them and their needs.”

In keeping with its promise to revitalize the Peugeot brand in the Philippines by releasing new global vehicles, the company introduced the new 2008 SUV as the brand's fourth and latest model for the Philippine market.

    Peugeot 2008

The new Peugeot 2008 SUV is a five-seater compact SUV that represents the ultra-modern version of a smooth and versatile driving experience.

“The new Peugeot 2008 completes our SUV lineup for the Philippines alongside the new Peugeot 5008 and new Peugeot 3008. All three SUVs give Filipinos access to the unmatched experience that our Peugeot global SUVs offer, in three size options that meet the varying needs and lifestyles of our customers,” Peugeot Philippines Brand Head Maricar Parco explained.

The new Peugeot 2008 SUV is a sculptural and appealing vehicle that generates a stunning presence on the road. It is aggressive and unique in style. The lines and overall proportions are those of an SUV, with a lowered windscreen that makes the bonnet more horizontal and creates a sturdy body.

A bold and straight grille, a sculpted bonnet, and full LED lighting technology with Peugeot's signature three-claw signature illumination characterize the front end. The full-LED headlamps are accompanied by LED daytime "fang-like" running lights that fade in and out. The 17-inch Black Onyx & Diamond Cut rims provide a rugged accent to the car's athletic look.

Inside, the Peugeot i-Cockpit provides seamless ergonomics around the driver for an interactive driving experience, including a compact steering wheel for better grip and handling, a large seven-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, and an innovative 3D head-up instrument cluster. The Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D instrument cluster displays the information  as a hologram in the driver's line of sight. As the indications go closer to the eye, they become more dynamic and animated, resulting in a half-second increase in reactivity.

The Peugeot 2008's spaciousness makes it a very versatile SUV.  There is also plenty of storage space under the front center armrest and additional in front of the gear shift, in addition to the standard door pockets and glove box. The cabin's surface is meticulously designed, with quality materials and colors expertly combined to give it a sporty yet elegant vibe.

The SUV also comes with standard safety features such as six SRS airbags, hill start assist, and electronic stability program (ESP), which incorporates an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and emergency brake assist (EBA).

It also comes with convenience features such as advanced keyless entry with auto unlock and walk away lock, front and rear parking sensors, rear camera, roof rails, and electric foldable wing mirrors.

The Peugeot 2008 is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged PureTech engine that produces 130hp and 230Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The new Peugeot 2008 is manufactured at the Stellantis production plant in Gurun, Malaysia. To achieve class-leading performance for local conditions and to suit the needs of customers in Southeast Asia, all vehicles constructed at the Gurun plant complete special endurance and quality testing. The new Peugeot 2008 has undergone 200,000 kilometers of testing in Malaysia's varied climate and environment.

The  Peugeot 2008 is priced at P1.55 million. It comes in four colors: Amazonite Grey, Pearl White, Nera Black, and Fusion Orange.

Peugeot Philippines will showcase its full vehicle lineup and offer customer test drives at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), which will take place at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from April 7 to 10.
