Porsche Macan facelift teased yet again

MANILA: Porsche has released some enticing pictures of the upcoming 2019 Macan facelift ahead of its official debut. Slated to happen later in July 2018 in China. The SUV is expected to debut in Europe at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

The images reveal the Porsche Macan facelift undergoing final stages of off-road testing. The tests are said to be taking place in South Africa on rough asphalt and mountain passages. In fact, the crew took the Macan facelift prototype to a height of 3,400 meters above sea level in Lesotho to test its off-road capabilities.

On the outside, the Macan facelift gets a refreshed front bumper and a wider air inlet but the similar LED headlamps with single strip LED DRLs. At the back, you’d find a new exhaust system accompanied by a reprofiled bumper and stylish wraparound tail lamps. A majority of the design cues come from the next-gen Cayenne that recently arrived in the Philippines.

From the images revealed, it is hard to comment on its interiors, but from some earlier spied photos, we know that it’ll have a restyled dash and a plenty of tech-inspired gadgetry to explore. Aside from this, there will be a completely new and bigger infotainment system close to 12 inches, larger dash panels, clock and horizontal vents garnished in chrome. So, expect a fairly new and revised cockpit on the 2019 Porsche Macan.

As far as tech specs are concerned, nothing is known as yet. The outgoing Macan, which is offered with 3.0-litre diesel and petrol engines, are also expected to receive at least a power boost if not more. The base variant is expected to offer 304 PS of peak power while the higher-end variants, the Macan S and the Macan Turbo are expected to produce 360 PS and 440 PS respectively.

According to Porsche, the Macan facelift is “the sports car masquerading as a compact SUV”. Additionally, the company claims that the SUV has been improved considerably with respect to design, connectivity, comfort and driving dynamics. Since 2014, Porsche has sold more than 350,000 units of the Macan globally, which speaks for its popularity and demand across the world.
