Subaru XV GT Edition: What it offers?
It was during the 2019 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) when Subaru showcased the XV GT Edition. And we’re pretty excited about its official launch in the Philippines. In case you aren’t aware, MIAS is one of the biggest and most important annual auto shows of the country which took place between 4th to 7th April at the World Trade Park in Metro Manila.
This year’s auto show witnessed major footfall, one of the highest ever with onlookers seeing the latest and upcoming cars from various automakers. Subaru, the Japanese auto company with a whole lot of experience in making cars, showcased some of its new products that were later launched in the Philippines.
It was only a month or two back that the Subaru XV GT went on sale in the Philippines. This 2019 MIAS debutant surely grabbed a lot of attention and with its on-sale tag, we are pretty sure the sales figures will only go high for the automaker. However, one question that we are often asked is - how is the XV GT Edition different from the standard model? It is to be noted that there roughly is a difference of Php 100,000 between the two cars, GT Edition being the expensive one. So, what all the GT Edition model has in stock that makes it a tad bit expensive. Let’s check out.
Styling
Intending to extend the look book of its best-selling crossover, Subaru introduced the GT Edition that sports additions from the Giken Co. The Japanese automaker worked with Kobayashi-san and Giken as they all share the same enthusiasm to create and design exciting products. As hinted by the name, the GT Edition is a sportier version of the XV - with a new and unique look.
In total, the car sports for attachments that add to its already sporty persona - they are all a part of an aero kit. Starting with the front, the bumper here is garnished with a front lip that is integrated with canards. The side showcases matching pair of side skirts bringing the profile up to snuff. The rear like the front showcases bumper extensions that complete the overall look of the crossover.
The entire GT Edition grille is painted in glossy black color; this further enhances the sporty appeal of the vehicle. The one thing that truly makes it a GT Edition are the super stylish 18-inch two-tone diamond-cut wheels.
Like the mid-range XV model - the XV 2.0i-S EyeSight, the GT Edition model also sports LED headlamps with auto leveler, LED daytime running lights, front fog lamps, headlamp washers, power-folding ORVMs with LED turn signal, roof rails, and power-sliding glass roof. It, however, misses out on the regular roof spoiler and gets GT Edition unit.
Interior
This is another area where the XV GT Edition displays some significant improvements. The car boots model-specific seat leather design and carpets this further adds an element of uniqueness to the crossover. On the convenience and functionality front, it feature gears like - 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, audio system with 8-inch display with navigation function, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic air-con system, blind-spot detection,
Bluetooth compatible hands-free system, electronic parking brake, EyeSight Driver Assist Tech, high beam assist, would get a revised dashboard layout featuring a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, high grade multi-functional display, push-button start, and multi-functional steering with cruise control. Also, the car features X-MODE, USB port, HDMI, AUX, a rearview camera, rear armrest, steering responsive headlight, PIN code access, rear cross-traffic alert, paddle shifters, and more.
Engine
All three Subaru XV trims, the standard XV 2.0i, mid-spec 2.0i-S Eye-Sight, and GT Edition are powered by the same Direct Fuel Injection, horizontally opposed, 4-cylinder, DOHC, 16-valve, petrol engine. This 1,995cc unit churns out a maximum power of 156 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 196 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Sending power to the wheels is a Lineartronic CVT unit.
Safety features
The Subaru XV GT Edition gets a number of safety features like 4-Sensor ABS with EBD, active torque vectoring, brake assist, brake override, engine immobilizer, vehicle dynamic control system, ISOFIX adapted child anchor, safety pedal system, side door reinforcement beam, SRS front, side, and curtain airbags, and SRS knee airbag. We want to tell you that this safety kit is standard across the XV range.
With the new XV GT Edition, the company is trying to make the car more relatable, especially for the youth of the country. The XV has always been a fun car, and its personality is not only retained but enhanced in the GT model. With all the new GT Edition specific features, the XV GT Edition price as expected gets a little bump as well, i.e., Php 1,768,000.
