Suzuki XL6 to compete against Honda BR-V, Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi Xpander
MANILA: MPVs appear to be the trend these days, and vehicles like the Honda BR-V, Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi Xpander have been growing sales for their corresponding manufacturers. Now, Suzuki is serious into receiving a piece of the action. Spied in India, Suzuki XL6 seems like it won't be long until it makes its appearance as it was not covered with any camouflage.
It is expected to be entirely revealed by the end of this year. Suzuki Philippines general manager for automobiles, Keiichi Suzuki, was asked whether they are planning for a vehicle to rival against top-selling MVPs. Well, it seems like XL6 is the answer to that question.
The spy shots reveal that Suzuki has made an effort to distinguish XL6 from standard Ertiga. For starters, the front end is different. For example, the headlamps are larger and have a much distinct shape. Also, the grill has been made more prominent and flaunts a different hexagonal design. Last but not least, the front bumpers feature a completely different shape and gets a faux skid plate along with distinct fog light housings.
It appears to be taller than the Ertiga and comes with a pair of roof rails, which its lower-riding mate does not. There are matte silver accents present on the side of the elevated MPV as well. At the rear, there's added cladding and presence of another faux skid plate. XL6's body is mainly carried over the Ertiga.
There is no information regarding the powertrain yet, but it's likely to come equipped with the same engine options from Ertiga. Ertiga gets a 1.5-litre mill, as well as a turbodiesel, which is offered in India.
