Toyota C-HR: What to expect?

Toyota C-HR: What to expect?

It was back in March 2016 when Toyota unveiled the production version of the C-HR at the Geneva Motor Show. It didn’t take long for this sporty, attractive, and modern crossover to attract a lot of people at the event. Soon after, Toyota put the C-HR into production in Nov 2016. However, it wasn’t until March 2018 when the C-HR was launched in our neighbouring country Malaysia. This move by the Japanese auto giant gave us hope that we too would get the C-HR some time soon. But we didn’t, we still haven’t.

While we were waiting for the stylish C-HR to hit our shores, Toyota went ahead and gave it a mild facelift. This was a surprising move by Toyota as the C-HR is still quite young and fresh in the market to receive a facelift. But anyway, it did. This tells us how much importance Toyota is giving to this crossover.

If Toyota decides to launch the 2019 C-HR in the Philippines, here are some of the features that you should expect to see.

Exterior features

The 2019 Toyota C-HR specs are mostly the same. As we said, it has been given a mild facelift. At the front, the C-HR continues to flaunt its large projector headlamps with in-built LED daytime running lights. What new here is the inclusion of chrome garnishing on either side of the front bumper. This adds a bit of premium-ness to the already sporty look of the car. There is also a new front faux skid plate.

On the side of the new C-HR, there are new 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Also, the body cladding on the doors have been made thicker and they now reach out to the fenders and quarter panels. The rear end gets the same super attractive tail lights along with a roof-mounted sporty spoiler and a skid plate under the rear bumper. Among the aforementioned features, a few of them are exclusive to Toyota’s TRD Sportivo Aerokit.

Toyota has also added a new colour option (Radiant Green Metallic) increasing the total shades available to six (Metal Stream Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, White Pearl CS, Blue Metallic and Red Mica). The new colour comes with a black roof for a dual-tone look.

Interior features

Toyota has not changed the interior of the 2019 C-HR. It continues to have the same mostly black theme that is very sporty. There are a few silver accents inside the cabin that are spread out in a wave-like pattern. We love the 3-spoke steering wheel as it feels quite sporty to grip.

The cabin space is quite good and the seats provide great comfort. The new addition in the interior is that the touch screen infotainment system now supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which means connecting or linking your smartphone with it just got easier and convenient.

Engine

As far as the engine is concerned, the C-HR continues to extract power from the same 1.8-litre petrol engine that produces 140 PS and 171 Nm and comes mated to a CVT unit for handling the transmission duties. It’s being said that there is a hybrid version of the same engine which produces 123 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque and gets the same CVT. There is no option for a manual gearbox.

Safety features

Toyota takes safety quite seriously that’s why the 2019 C-HR gets 7 airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), blind spot monitor, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and anti-dazzle rear view mirror.

So, the Toyota C-HR was revealed, it then went into production, was launched in Malaysia, and then even got a facelift for its 2019 model, and we in the Philippines are still waiting for it. How rude, Toyota? Anyway, just like before, we will keep our hopes high and wish to see the 2019 Toyota C-HR in our country.

As of now, there is no official information available regarding the launch or the Toyota C-HR price. But we will be keeping our eyes and ears open and will get you all the latest updates regarding the C-HR because we are as excited to see it in the flesh as you are.
