Unveiled: 2017 Ford Escape Gets SYNC 3, Two New EcoBoost® Engines & More Safety Tech
MANILA: Ford has recently unveiled the facelifted 2017 Escape Crossover with all new SYNC 3 Infotainment System, Two New EcoBoost® Engines with Auto Start-Stop and More Driver- Assist Technologies. The new crossover will be available in three trim Levels (S, SE and Titanium) in addition to a New Sport Appearance Package (available for SE and Titanium trim levels). The crossover will be offered in three new colors (Canyon Ridge, White Gold and Lightning Blue) and six new wheel designs.
Visually speaking, 2017 Ford Escape gets a redesigned front fascia sporting a two-bar hexagonal grille and larger headlights giving the crossover a wider stance. On the side, the new Escape largely remains unchanged, excluding the newly-designed alloy wheels. The rear side of the crossover now features a newly-designed tailgate with taller taillights.
Inside, a new 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel replaces the previous 4-spoke unit making it easier to see the gauge cluster. The mechanical handbrake has been replaced by a new electronic parking brake and the USB port and 12V socket now sits below the automatic climate control.
The 2017 Ford Escape is the first Ford vehicle in the world to get the SYNC 3 Infotainment System which allows the users to remotely start their car, schedule future starts, lock and unlock its doors, and check the fuel level, tire pressure and the battery capacity with the ease of their smartphones via the SYNC connect smartphone app. The technology also provides the vehicle location which can help users to find their cars in case they are stolen or they have forgotten where they have parked it.

The new driver-assist features of 2017 Ford Scape include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support, Enhanced Active Park Assist, Lane-Keeping System, and Driver Alert System. The crossover was already equipped with the features like Blind Spot Information, Hill start assist, automatic high beams and hands-free tailgate opening.
The powertrain of 2017 Ford Escape includes two new EcoBoost® engines: the 1.5L and the 2.0L twin-scroll turbo units. The 1.5L EcoBoost® engine replaces the outgoing 1.6L engine and generates 180hp of power and 250Nm of torque. The 2.0L EcoBoost® engine produces 245hp fo power and 374Nmof torque. Both engines feature the Auto Start-Stop Technology and are still mated to the 6-speed automatic gearbox that comes with manumatic function and paddle shifters.
