Volkswagen to bring Tharu in PH market this month

Volkswagen is set to launch the Tharu sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the Philippines, its local distributor announced.

AC Motors — the brand’s distributor in the country — shared that the model’s initial batch of units already arrived in the Port of Batangas ahead of its official launch on September 29.

Not much details have been shared as of posting although the distributor noted that the vehicle (to be offered in two trims namely SE and SEL) will be retailed in four colors: Pure White, Mangan Grey, Petroleum Blue and Polytech Blue.

In one of the photos that AC Motors shared, the soon-to-be-unveiled units wear a 300 TSi badge. Upon checking the Volkswagen Taos (the model where the Tharu is based) in the international market, the model is powered by a 1.5-liter engine turbocharged mill.

Abroad, the Volkswagen Tharu’s SE trim sits on 18-inch wheels while the top-of-the-line version rolls on 19-inch alloys.

Further, the company said that it is already accepting reservations for the upcoming vehicle, which will be showcased and made available for test drives on September 30 and October 1.
