Volkswagen to expand its SUV portfolio in China
MANILA: SUVs and crossovers are the top rages in today’s world. The customer interest has been shifting towards these bigger vehicles quite rapidly and more and more automaker are trying their best to catch their fish in the popular waters. China is were Volkswagen happens to have its biggest market,
and in order to increase the profit and cater to the demands of the Chinese masses, the German automaker is set to introduce two new SUVs in the country, and as the German brand has started sourcing Asian models in the Philippines instead of European ones, the possibility of these two new SUVs landing on the Philippine shores is quite certain.
Addressing the vehicles, the first SUV is Teramont X. It nothing else but a five-seater variant of the regular Teramont. Interestingly the bigger seven-seater SUV is called Atlas in the North American market and locks horns with the likes of Ford Explorer and Mazda CX-9. Despite being one of the biggest ever vehicle produced by Volkswagen,
the Teramont keeps the German essence intact. The reason we say it is one of the biggest SUV by Volkswagen ever is the size of this SUV which measures 5,037 mm long, 1,979 mm wide, and 1,768 mm tall. The space inside is more than enough to accommodate 7 adults, and the cargo space can be expanded up to 2,741-litre via folding the seats down.
Moving on to the next offering, it is one of Volkswagen’s sub-compact SUVs, T-Cross. SAIC-Volkswagen will now produce the T-Cross as well and sell it in the local market.
The T-Cross is also one of Volkswagen’s more popular SUVs because it gets all the latest features and techs like an 8-inch infotainment screen with “Beats” audio, wireless charging, and four USB ports among others. The power comes from a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-pot mill that makes good 115 PS of maximum power.
Volkswagen aims at relaunching the brand in China with the introduction with these two bold SUVs. The German automaker also intends to bring more and more striking vehicles which will be equipped with new thrilling technologies and power sources. The major goal of the brand is to lure as many customers as possible.
