Volvo Philippines first plug-in hybrid lineup - XC60, S90, and XC90

MANILA: Volvo Philippines has recently launched its first lineup of plug-in hybrids—the Volvo XC60, S90, and XC90 models.

The Volvo plug-in hybrids were introduced during the ‘Future of Electric Forum,’ organized by the automaker, that discussed climate change and electric mobility.

“Volvo has always been cognizant of our part in environmental issues. That is the reason why we have incorporated care for the environment as one of our core values. As early as the 1970s, Volvo had already made concrete steps in finding solutions to environmental challenges. Since then, Volvo has pushed the boundaries in addressing the environmental impact that our cars make,” said Alberto B. Arcilla, Chief Executive Officer and President of Volvo Philippines.

Besides being one of the founding members of the UN Global Compact, Volvo is also the first premium car manufacturer pushing for electrification and reduction of its average carbon emissions. The company’s goal is to be carbon neutral by 2040. Volvo has also pledged that every new vehicle it will introduce in the market will have an electrified powertrain. To push this objective, the Swedish automaker branded its electrified offerings as the Recharge line. Whether it's a plug-in hybrid or a full EV, Recharge will be how Volvo identifies its electrified portfolio.

The Volvo XC60, S90, and XC90 plug-in hybrids will run on a fuel-efficient engine assisted by an electric motor capable of producing over 400 hp of power. Volvo adds that the hybrid models can go for about 40km of pure electric driving. For more options, the T8 variants also come with multiple driving modes -- full Power mode, Pure electric mode, and the balanced Hybrid mode.

All three Volvo plug-in hybrids are now available for order in all Volvo dealerships nationwide.
