What's New in the All New Peugeot 2008
MANILA: The all new Peugeot 2008 is set to make a debut at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The facelifted version of this car has got some exterior tweaks along with more equipments and upgraded engines. With these changes, the brand hopes to renew 2008's image in ever-growing mini-SUV market. This car was launched for the first time in Philippines in July 2015, and now all the Filipinos have their eyes on this all-new Peugeot 2008. For all those curious about this car, we have compiled some points regarding what's new about it. Have a look and decide for yourself if it is worth these tweaks.
1.Upgraded engine
While the older version was powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine which churns out a maximum power of 120 hp, the new model is employed with a 1.2-litre PureTech BlueHDi engine which is capable of delivering a maximum power of 130 hp. Moreover, the older 4-speed automatic transmission is replaced by a new 6-speed manual transmission
2.Redesigned front fascia
The most striking feature of this all-new Peugeot 2008 is its new front fascia. It features a heavily reworked front grille with chrome inserts which is wider and taller as compared to the outgoing model. Moreover, the Peugeot lion emblem now sits in the middle of the grille instead of the bonnet. Apart from that, one can also notice its new headlamp clusters along with a redesigned bumper which give it a more rugged look.
3.Few changes in interior
Moving inside, the boot space of this car has increased drastically. Earlier it used to carry a boot space of 360 litres which was expandable to 1194 litres with folded seats. But the facelifted 2008 carries a boot space of 410 litres which can be further extended to 1400 litres by folding down the rear seats. Apart from that, a lot of styling changes and new trims can also be noticed. Moreover, the cabin has been designed with high-quality materials with Peugeot's i-Cockpit technology.
4.New Infotainment system
The all new Peugeot 2008 features a new 7-inch touchscreen-operated infotainment system. This system is now assisted with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink technology which was not present in its predecessor. Moreover, the rear view camera is also connected with this screen which further helps in easy reversing.
5.Upgraded safety features
The automaker has blessed this car with a host of safety features. It is integrated with active city brake which helps in detecting a collision with a pedestrian or other car. In this case, if brakes are not applied, then the car will get stopped automatically. Further, the grip control system integrated in this car helps to maintain a proper grip on tricky surfaces.
