The all-new Hyundai i20 cross sport will be available in two engine choices – a 1.4-litre Kappa gasoline engine with Dual MPI and Variable Intake system, mated with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission which produces an impressive 100hp of peak power and 133Nm torque. The second choice is a diesel variant with 1.4-litre U2 CRDi engine that generates 90 hp of maximum power and 220 Nm of peak torque. It is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. The new rugged and athletic crossover doesn't loose on the style of Hyundai. The i20 Cross Sport silhouette is manufactured on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 platform. It comes with dynamic front fascia with hexagonal front grille surrounded by chrome highlights, sleek headlights and dynamic diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels. All together these upbringings enhance the overall look and design. Inside the beast, innovative gadgetry and lavish amenities take you to the next level of driving experience.

Mileage and Fuel economy

Hyundai claims that the i20 cross sport has been engineered to deliver decent mileage in the range of 17.19 Kmpl (as per ARAI certification). Its diesel versions are fitted with a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi drive-train. This mill is capable to give out a minimum of 16 Kmpl on city roads, which goes up to a maximum of 21.19 Kmpl on highways. Moreover, the 6-speed gearbox makes the long journeys economical as well, returning about 21.1 km/l at an average speed of 94 km/h.

Power

The second generation U2 1.4 diesel engine churns out a maximum power of 90PS and a peak torque of 220 Nm while the 1.2 petrol engine produces 83 PS of power output and 114 Nm of peak torque, the diesel version comes mated to a six-speed transmission while the petrol comes mated to a five-speed manual unit.

Acceleration & Pickup

The automaker is dedicated to provide amazing and improved acceleration to its customers. They claim that certain improvements have been done with the compression ratio of its diesel power-train to improve car's acceleration. This helps it to achieve a top speed mark of 180 Kmph and takes just 11.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 Kmph. However, the petrol motor didn't go through any update and gets mated to a five speed manual gearbox. It takes 13.2 seconds to reach 100 Kmph, achieving a top speed of 170 Kmph.

Exterior

The i20 Cross Sport has an intimidating front facade that comes with a hexagonal shaped radiator grille covered under black colored strips. It is embodied in the bumper that has a dual tone finish and fitted with a pair of round shaped fog lamps along with an aluminum nudge guard. On the upper part, small air intake section embedded with the company's logo is present. Surrounding this is the swept-back design headlight cluster featuring projector headlamps along with stylish LED DRLs. Its side profile looks sportier as it comes decorated with black colored protective strips. Although it is a compact crossover, it has a silhouette of an SUV owing to its high ground clearance and dual tone fenders along with aluminium roof rails. The windscreen too has a concave structure featuring a stylish spoiler along with a high mount third brake light. The i20 cross sport has a total length of 3995 mm and a decent width of 1760 mm. It stands at a height of 1525 mm with an impressive ground clearance of 190 mm. It also has also got longer wheelbase of 2570 mm.

Interior

Unlike most of the vehicle in its class, i20 cross sport come with a variety of color choices like blue and tangerine orange color inserts that gives an exclusive look to the interiors. At the same time, there are a lot of metallic and chrome accents given inside the cabin that enhances the cabin design. However, the dashboard looks much alike to the i20 hatchback, but the center console and instrument cluster gets much more sharp design. The steering wheel has an attractive three spoke design with all the audio and call connectivity buttons mounted on it. There is a large and advanced supervision instrument cluster that has conventional dials and illumination, available in top end variants. In addition to this, it also gets features like adjustable front head restraints, front center console with armrest, power windows, manually operated air conditioning unit, motor driven electric power steering and glove box cooling that boost the comfort level. The company is offering it with aspects including clutch foot rest, passenger vanity mirror, ticket holder, accessory power outlet, battery saver, internally adjustable outside mirrors, and lane change indicator. Its mid-range variants gets an electrically adjustable outside mirrors, luggage lamp, front map lamp, height adjustable driver's seat and a sunglass holder.
