How many variants are there in the MG 3 lineup?
MG 3 is available in 4 variants including the MG 3 Standard MT, MG 3 Comfort CVT, MG 3 Luxury CVT, and MG 3 HEV.
Which is the most value-for-money variant?
If you're on the lookout for a balance of price and performance, the MG 3 Comfort CVT will offer you the best value. It comes with automatic transmission providing better fuel efficiency and convenience.
What features does the MG 3 get?
The MG 3 has a stylish and modern design that seems to be inspired by the larger models of the brand such as the GT and ZS. Its front boasts a wide grille and sharp, large headlamps that give it an appealing look, complemented on the front bumper by sizeable air intakes for a sporty stance. The design of the rear is also sleek, with taillights that echo the front lamp's shape contributing to a cohesive aesthetic.
Dimensionwise, the MG 3 is 1,521 mm tall, 1,729 mm wide, and 4,055 mm long, giving it a spacious yet compact appearance ideal for urban driving. On most variants, its ground clearance is around 132mm, but the hybrid version has a 117mm ground clearance. The weight of the base manual variant is 1,160kg, while the higher trim such as the Luxury CVT weighs around 1,190kg. Due to additional hybrid components, the hybrid model weighs around 1,308kg. Depending on the variant wheels vary, with 15-inch steel wheels available with the base model and the higher versions available with 16-inch alloys that are wrapped in 195/55 R16 tires.
The MG 3 has a stylish yet practical interior with a blend of soft-touch and hard plastic materials. While the dashboard majorly comprises durable plastic, it is complemented by textured trim and leather accents, giving a sophisticated touch. On the center console, gloss-black plastics further enhance the cabin’s modern feel.
The seating exudes a combination of leather and fabric upholstery, offering both a premium look and outstanding comfort. The well-styled seats offer an excellent level of support for both long and short drives. The MG 3 comes with a 241-liter trunk, which offers optimum space for grocery runs, daily use, or small luggage, making it an excellent option for city living. The cabin delivers the perfect balance of modern design, comfort, and utility.
How spacious is it?
Despite its huge dimension in the supermini segment, the interior space offered by MG 3 is average. Rear headroom is not that good with taller passengers likely to feel a bit uncomfortable due to the sloping roofline, making the head restraints not so useful for taller passengers. In a one-piece configuration, the rear seats fold down leaving in the flat loading floor a step.
Up front, you’ll find the oddment storage to be plentiful, with numerous trays, cupholders, and bins available for storing smaller items. However, hard plastic has been used for storage areas, which can lead to scratch and rattle, detracting from cabin layout that is otherwise practical.
What engine and transmission options are available?
The MG 3 comes with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine, generating 120 PS and 150 Nm of torque. This engine has been mated with either a 5-speed manual or an 8-speed CVT transmission, based on the version you have selected. For the hybrid version, the MG 3 comes with a 1.5-liter hybrid inline-four engine, which generates 190 PS and 250 Nm of torque. The engine has been paired with a 3-speed hybrid transmission, offering improved performance and efficiency. The hybrid powertrain has been aimed at offering better mileage while still offering strong power output.
What’s the mileage of MG 3?
The MG 3 offers around 6.0 liters per 100km mileage while putting out around 159g of CO2.
How safe is the MG 3?
The MG 3 comes with a wide range of safety features, providing an excellent level of protection for occupants. It comes with a Crash Sensor, ABS, and EBD to enhance crash and braking response. With passenger and driver airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear seat belts, it ensures safety for children and adults. The car also offers safety features such as lane departure warning, impact beams, and speed-sensing door locks for additional protection. For maneuvering and parking, it comes with 360 cameras, rear sensors, and park assist.
How many colour options are there?
MG 3 is available in 7 colour options including Blade Silver, St. Moritz Blue, Andes Gray, Morning Yellow, Pearl Black, York White, and Extreme Speed Red.

MG 3 Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The MG3 is a premium hatchback and the most affordable offering from MG in the Philippines, which entered its third generation in 2024, showcased first at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show. The 2024 MG3 has been made available in the Philippines in four variants – Standard, Comfort, Luxury and Hybrid, with the prices varying between PHP 678,888 and PHP 1,088,000. The colour options on offer for the MG3 are St. Moritz Blue, Blade Silver, Andes Gray, Pearl Black, Morning Yellow, Extreme Speed Red and York White.
MG 3 Interior & Features
With this new-generation version, the MG3 has also received an all-new cabin layout, which has reached a new height of modernity with the presence of many new-age features. The cabin gets an all-black layout with contrasting silver accents across the dashboard and door panels.
The two-spoke multi-functional, flat-bottomed steering wheel with gloss black inserts looks cool, and so does the new 7-inch trapezoidal full-TFT instrument console behind it. The centre console also looks heavily redesigned with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a trapezoidal housing for the climate control buttons and AC vents below it.
For its segment, the MG3 has the best equipment list, with the hatchback offering features like tilt and telescopic adjustability for the steering wheel, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, heated steering wheel, 6-speaker audio system, leather upholstery and more.
3 Exterior
With the third-generation version, the MG3 has taken a drastically different approach to its appearance, which makes it look much sportier and aerodynamic than ever before.
The aerodynamic front profile of the MG3 has a sloping bonnet with curves flowing down towards the minimalist fascia, that has a horizontally-stretched air dam covering much of the front bumper. There are additional L-shaped curtains on the sides of the front bumper, above which the car has large triangular-shaped headlamp clusters with LED projectors and LED DRLs.
The side profile of the MG3 looks dynamic and sporty with sharp and prominent curves flowing through the door panels while emerging from the front and rear fenders. While the Standard variant has 15-inch steel wheels with wheel caps, the rest of the variant lineup gets 16-inch machined alloy wheels as standard. At the back, the MG3 looks very different from its previous-generation version, with a more angular windscreen and wide triangular LED combination tail lamps with LED inserts.
MG 3 Ride & Handling
The MG 3 has a standard suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and a torsional beam at the rear. Except for the base-spec Standard variant, all the variants of the MG 3 get rear disc brakes as standard. The suspension has been tuned for a comfort-oriented ride setup, making low-speed urban rides supple.
3 Engine & Fuel Consumption
There are two powertrain options offered across the variant lineup of MG 3. The Standard, Comfort and Luxury variants have a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine under their hood with transmission choices of a 5-speed manual for the Standard and a CVT for the Comfort and Luxury variants. This engine generates 118 PS of maximum power and 150 Nm of maximum torque. The range-topping Hybrid variant gets the 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and battery setup, and a 3-speed hybrid transmission as the gearbox. This powertrain claims 160 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of maximum torque.
MG 3 Braking & Safety
The MG 3 is one of the few hatchbacks that offer ADAS features, including automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, intelligent cruise assist, intelligent high beam control, speed assistance system, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change warning and unsteady driving warning. Other essential features for safety in the MG 3 are six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, electronic parking brake and tyre pressure monitoring system.
3 Verdict
With its extensive list of equipment, choices of powertrains and a refreshed approach in styling inside-out, the MG 3 is setting up tall standards in the affordable hatchback category, bringing the factor of desirability to the small car segment.
