Triumph Thruxton RS

There is no dearth of visual drama in the overall design of the Triumph Thruxton RS. The motorcycle looks stunning in both pictures and reality, with the classic retro design and pure stance of a café racer presented in the best possible form.

AT the front, the Triumph Thruxton RS gets a simple rounded headlamp, the lower semi-circumference of which gets daytime running LED. The sides of the casing of the headlamps get silver-finished triple clamps and rounded amber-coloured turn indicators. What adds a premium effect to the front profile is the golden finish for the front suspension forks. There are additional vertical clamps attached to the chopped front fender.

From the side, the Triumph Thruxton RS is a long motorcycle, with an elongated and nicely curved fuel tank and a wheelbase that is longer than before. The motorcycle gets a matt-black theme for the engine, side body cowls and spoke wheels, and gunmetal theme for the dual exhaust pipes. The side body cowls get the iconic tri-dotted design, which has become a signature design element for the Thruxton.

Like a true café racer, the Triumph Thruxton RS is offered with a single-piece seat as standard, which gets a curved tailpiece at its back. The chopped rear fender at the back comes with a tail lamp cluster mounted on it, which also includes the amber-coloured turn indicators on either side of the tail light.

Staying true to its roots as a retro-themed motorcycle, the Triumph Thruxton RS gets a dual pod analog instrument console with a small LCD screen for the odometer and fuel gauge. There is one analog pod each for the speedometer and tachometer. The clip-on handlebars and handlebar levers are finished in a theme of silver, while the motorcycle gets classic black-themed rear view mirrors mounted on the ends of the handlebar.

The RS suffix in the name of the Triumph Thruxton RS indicates a lot about its mechanical hardware under the skin. The motorcycle is bestowed with a sporty suspension setup of 43mm upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks from Showa at the front and fully-adjustable twin gas-charged coil springs from Ohlins, both of which are fully adjustable and get suspension travels of 120mm. Riding on Metzeler Racetec RR high-performance tyres, the Triumph Thruxton RS gets a twin 310mm disc setup at the front and a single 220mm disc at the rear.

The Triumph Thruxton RS gets the same liquid-cooled, 8-valve, 270-degree crank angle, parallel-twin, 1,200cc engine from the Speedmaster and Bonneville Bobber, which is currently the most powerful engine developed by Triumph for its range of modern classic motorcycles. Coupled with a 6-speed gearbox, the engine is capable of pumping out a maximum power output of 105 PS and a peak torque output of 112 Nm. You get three different riding modes – Rain, Road, and Sport, all of which offer precise power delivery depending upon the circumstances.

The Triumph Thruxton RS gets only the essential safety features like a dual-channel ABS and traction control.

The Triumph Thruxton RS is more than a beautiful-looking motorcycle. It packs in a very powerful and refined engine, which suits the character of the motorcycle very effectively. This motorcycle is friendly to ride for both low-speed riding and high speed riding equally. The suspension setup is also perfect to suit its sporty character, though it might feel at times, especially on longer rides.
