Have a look at the Hyundai Custin's roomy interior

The Hyundai Custin entered the Philippine market as a good choice for car buyers who want a three-row alternative to the locally popular line of sports utility and multi-purpose vehicles.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the price range of the Philippine-spec Hyundai Custin?

The Philippine-spec Hyundai Custin has a price ranging from P1.77 million-P2.08 million.
  • How much horsepower and torque can the Hyundai Custin produce?

The Hyundai Custin can produce up to 167 horsepower and 253 Newton-meters of torque.
  • Launched a year ago, the Hyundai model comes in the form of a minivan, which has become a rare sight in the local automotive scene. Regardless, it has a lot of qualities that make it a value-added purchase for folks looking for a people carrier.

For starters, it uses a decently peppy 1.5-liter inline-4 mill with a maximum output of 167 horsepower and 253 Newton-meters of torque. It also has a considerable ground clearance of 174-millimeters, and a front and rear disc brake setup.

Plus, the Hyundai model wears an exterior that can be described as attractive. At the fore, it bears the Korean car marque’s parametric diamond front grille with integrated LED daytime running lamps. It also has a set of stylish 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and four elegant exterior color options to choose from.

All of the aforementioned sounds nice, but what is the Hyundai Custin’s interior offering to prospective adopters? Let’s find out here.

    Spacious three-row seating

As a family-friendly ride, Hyundai provided the Custin with a spacious three-row seating configuration.

Specifically, the GLS trim gets second-row captain seats, while the top-spec  Premium comes with “relaxation seats.”

To note, the relaxation seats on the higher level trim are also captain seats but with added functionality such as ventilation, heating, and integrated memory power adjustability. The second row of the lower-spec GLS, on the other hand, gets manual sliding and reclining only.

The third row for the Custin is a bench-type seat, and both trims come standard with leather upholstery.

Notably, the second- and third-row floors of the model are relatively flat. As such, folks (especially kids) who like to move about inside the vehicle can do so freely. It likewise makes for more legroom and even more space to store smaller types of luggage, such as backpacks.

Other comfort-oriented features found inside the Hyundai-made minivan are listed here:

    • Automatic climate control (front)
    • Manual climate control (rear)
    • Six-piece speaker system (Premium)
    • Foldable backseat tables (Premium)
    • Overhead console lamp, Room lamp
    • Power tailgate (Premium)

To make trips even livelier, the top-spec Premium trim also offers a sunroof with a one-touch power functionality for its front section. The said feature can make long road trips more exciting and festive. On the flip side, it can allow more natural illumination into the cabin on days when the weather is a bit lacking in sunlight.

Access to the Custin’s interior is also made easier, thanks to the presence of a power-sliding door. On the top-spec trim, both of its right and left doors have power functionality. The entry-level trim, on the other hand, has power functionality for its ride side only.

    Rich in tech

In addition to its roomy cabin, the Custin was fitted with a sizable 10.4-inch central touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus, the higher-spec Premium gets decent sound quality from its six-piece speaker set.

Powering up mobile devices inside the Hyundai model is likewise made easier thanks to the presence of wireless smartphone chargers. Yes, it has multiple wireless charging pads, with one in the front cabin and another in the second row.

Additionally, the model was kitted out with several USB ports, a voice recognition system, and Bluetooth connectivity.

For safety, meanwhile, the Custin gets what one would expect from a modern, family-friendly ride. It has dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, anti-lock braking, hill-start assist, tire-pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child seat anchors, an engine immobilizer, a 360-degree view camera, and electronic stability control - among others.

Plus, the aforementioned safety bits are reinforced by the following advanced driver-assist systems:

    • Manual speed limit assist
    • Forward collision-avoidance assist
    • Blind-spot monitoring and collision avoidance
    • Driver attention warning
    • High beam assist
    • Lane following assist
    • Rear-cross collision-avoidance assist
    • Rear occupant alert
    • Parking distance warning

    Loads of driving features

While the Hyundai Custin was designed for the utmost passenger comfort, it also has plenty of niceties intended for the one behind the wheel.

Its driver’s seat, for instance, comes with power-adjustability. Coupled with its tilt-adjustable steering column, finding one’s preferred driving position inside the Custin is made relatively easy.

Additionally, the model provides clear and concise driving information through its fully digital instrument cluster. It also gets a push-to-start button, smart key functionality, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and a day and night rearview mirror.

    Final thoughts

With the kind of interior features it was equipped with, the Custin has shaped up as a good option for folks looking to get a competent family-friendly car. Beyond the aforementioned, it can even fit the bill as a classy people carrier, specifically for entities who need to ferry around executives or clients in comfort and style.

However, buyers of any car, including the Custin, should first give it a thorough test drive. Doing so will determine if it is really the right choice for you.
