2018 Jeep Wrangler at South-Western Desert: Spied
MANILA: Jeep Wrangler is a compact, mid-size four-wheel drive off-road vehicle that has been around for a while now. The recent FCA dealer meeting in Las Vegas hinted towards the soon arrival of a transformed Wrangler. The upgraded all terrain Jeep is said to deliver better fuel economy (as per new regulations) and is also believed to have acquired a lighter body.
Now here is the deal, the much awaited 2018 Jeep Wrangler is finally been spotted and what is perfect than the South-western desert to test a car like this. The so-called prototype is virtually identical to the current ongoing model, but a closer inspection reveal the valuable changes integrated by the engineers. First thing first, the mule now showcases a broader cowl area that makes its hood look bigger and better. Next big noticeable change is the front and rear fenders that appear longer when compared to its previous generation. All the above-mentioned specifications hint towards an extended wheelbase that will assure the interiors to be more airy and spacious with an additional rear seat.
Coming to typical engineering skills, the Jeep will now spot two major changes, firstly both the front and rear overhangs are now cut-short helping the car to run smoothly on inclined roads. Secondly the break-over angle will be more acute keeping the lower base safe and sound.
The entire car was seen covered in a rough paint job, thus we can expect some metal figures re-configuration. As usual steel will top the chart but now aluminum will also partner in the body structure making the new Jeep lighter. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed, "a large portion of the vehicle will be aluminum", but "it will not be all aluminum." He also added that they continued to retain its solid rear axles and body-on-frame construction.
Under the hood, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is said to be powered by a smaller displacement turbocharged engine, also the U.S market is said to receive a diesel variant. But like all other details, this will be only established once the car is out in open.
Wrangler will be given its 'finished product' form at the Toledo Plant that will be given up-gradations so that the car's building process can receive a green light. As per reliable sources, July 2017 will be the blessed month to witness its much-awaited arrival.
