2019 Range Rover Sport to be available with PHEV powertrain

MANILA: The 2019 Range Rover Sport has finally made its way for the official announcement by Jaguar Land Rover. And yes, the most important aspect about this new vehicle is that it will be available in the PHEV (plug-in hybrid) version too.

This announcement made by the British luxury automaker also means that it would be the first car from the brand to have the PHEV technology and would be badged as the P400e. Further, the Chief Design Officer of Land Rover, Gerry McGovern, has said that the new Range Rover Sport is the right mix of power and impactful design. The re-defined stature is the hallmark of modernity in the entire lineup. And without a hint of doubt, it deserves all your attention.

Aesthetically, the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has some unique additions to go with the design language that the company is known for. The front grille looks slimmer now along with the re-worked bumper. It gets the signature LED DRLs and automatic headlamps that has the optional high beam.

Getting inside the cabin, the 2019 Sport manages to keep things similar to the standard fitments from the company’s other models. However, there is a slight change in the seat covers as the new model gets grained upholstery and the front seats are 14-way adjustable. There are two touchscreens (10-inch) inside the cabin along with the Touch Pro Duo infotainment console.

Certain other technical specifications are provided for the Drivers’ Assistance programme like Adaptive Speed Limiter, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Monitor, etc. Other safety equipment includes the emergency braking capabilities, lane departure warning and cruise control, all of which are given as standard.

The new Range Rover Sport PHEV will have the combined power of an IC (internal combustion) engine with 296 PS along with an electric motor that can make 141 PS. With the help of a 13.1 kW li-ion battery pack, the car will be capable of running for 51 kilometres on the zero-emission mode. The powertrain is coupled with an 8-speed gearbox (automatic) and 4WD.

Apart from the PHEV, there would also be the standard V6 and V8 engine options for the internal combustion variants.
