2023 Range Rover Velar combines minimal design changes with hybrid power

MANILA: The updated Range Rover Velar is the epitome of contemporary luxury, boasting cutting-edge technology, trademark Range Rover smoothness, and a striking, minimalistic new look.

The new grille on the 2023 Range Rover Velar complements the vehicle's distinguishing floating roof, uninterrupted waistline, and flush deployable door handles, which make up the most coveted family of luxury SUVs. The exterior is improved with a new lower rear bumper and dark highlights, while new headlights give the vehicle a technological, jewel-like appearance and improved visibility.

The Range Rover Velar established the Range Rover reductive design approach and elevates it on the inside. The new center console-integrated, single floating 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen offers quick and simple management of all significant vehicle functions.

A comprehensive technology package enhances passenger comfort and wellbeing, adding to the midsize luxury SUV's appeal. A peaceful interior is another benefit of the Range Rover Velar's advanced features, which include the groundbreaking Active Road Noise Cancellation system.

The strong overhang elsewhere around the Velar, notably at the back, lends stability and draws attention to the imposing length of the Range Rover Velar. A revised lower rear bumper improves its proportions while its prominent kick adds to its strong stance. New LED tail lights reflect this elegance with a super-red lighting and an eye-catching 3D look. A full-length high-level stop-lamp completes the set.

As for the cabin of the Range Rover Velar, it is even more understated as it boasts superb craftsmanship and modern materials. The centerpiece is the most recent iteration of the Range Rover Pivi Pro7 infotainment system, which features a single 11.4-inch floating curved glass interface that is ergonomically placed higher and simpler to reach in order to reduce distraction and reflections.

In addition to new seat designs and materials, the Range Rover Velar still provides a leather-free interior option. For the version without leather, Ultrafabrics polyurethane textile inserts with a novel Diamond Herringbone perforation pattern are combined with wool from Danish textile experts Kvadrat. To ensure that it maintains the expected level of robustness over the course of the vehicle's lifetime, the innovative textile was put through extensive in-house durability testing in the Range Rover materials lab. It underwent 60,000 cycles of abrasion testing, which is the equivalent of 10 years of use, and UV tests that could simulate three years of constant sun exposure in just one month.

Cloud, Raven Blue, and Deep Garnet are the three brand-new leather hues that are unveiled. A carefully chosen selection of accents, such as new Moonlight Chrome on the steering wheel, center console surrounds, and air vents, complete these. Its elegance is highlighted with technical Light Anodized or Dark Anodized Aluminium, or tactile Shadow Grey Ash wood veneer trim finishers.

Two new color options join the exterior palette: Metallic Varesine Blue and Premium Metallic Zadar Grey.

The infotainment screen features redesigned sidebars, which have multi-functional sliding controls on either side, and always have settings for the seats, climate, and audio volume displayed. These virtual buttons offer easy access to frequently used features like the front occupants' individual temperature controls, audio level, and Terrain Response modes and are constantly displayed.

In order to shorten work and interaction times and provide the most user-friendly technological experience possible, the next-generation infotainment underwent thorough testing and development, both digitally and physically with human testers. Approximately 80% of tasks may be completed on the home screen with just two taps.

Wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity is supported by Pivi Pro7. Additionally supported is wireless Android Auto2, and wireless device charging, which can be accessed through a new storage space in the center console, offers rapid quick charging and eliminates the need for cables.

With the help of cutting-edge Active Road Noise Cancellation technology, the cozy cabin of the 2023 Range Rover Velar reduces road noise, ensuring a quiet interior. The overall interior noise levels are decreased by this technology, which automatically processes an anti-noise through the car's audio system in response to external frequencies.

The optional Meridian 3D Surround Sound System, which provides high-fidelity music playing using up to 17 speakers and 750W of amplifier power for an immersive listening experience, is the most potent Meridian audio system available for the new Range Rover Velar.

The Range Rover Velar features cutting-edge chassis and suspension setups that deliver the renowned Range Rover ride comfort and refinement. With Adaptive Dynamics, an innovative chassis system that continuously adjusts the damping forces at each wheel, the optional Electronic Air Suspension offers calm comfort while keeping its composure on bumpy roads.

A Belt integrated Starter Generator (BiSG) is used to recover energy typically lost during deceleration in the newest generation of Ingenium petrol six-cylinder engines, which are also available with 48-volt MHEV technology for improved efficiency and power delivery. Under the back load compartment, a 48-volt lithium-ion battery houses it. It can give a more streamlined and quick start-stop mechanism while also redistributing energy to help with acceleration.

The 2023 Range Rover Velar P400's 3.0-liter straight-six Ingenium gas engine produces 395hp and 405lb-ft, accelerating from 0 to 100kph in 5.2 seconds.

A new, eight-speed automatic transmission with smoother shifts is now available for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The 2023 Range Rover Velar P250 has 247 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque, reaching 100 kph in 7.1 seconds. All-wheel drive is standard across the range.

The 2023 Range Rover Velar P400 six-cylinder vehicles come standard with Adaptive Dynamics, which makes sure that the suspension stiffness is adjusted for the road's conditions to enhance ride comfort and handling. Through Pivi Pro7, the driver may access Terrain Response 2, which offers a selection of driving modes including Eco, Comfort, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Dynamic, and Automatic. For the best traction and stability, each modifies the calibration of the engine, transmission, all-wheel drive system, suspension, and stability control systems.
