Hyundai bares ‘NPX1’ concept car at Tokyo Auto Salon 2024

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the Ioniq 5 N NPX1 concept car at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N NPX1 wore N-branded accessories like a carbon front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuse, to name a few.According to Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 N NPX1 is based on the award-winning N high-performance car version of the Ioniq 5 , therefore bringing in tried and tested performance to the stage set to showcase the suite of performance parts from the South Korean car brand’s racing division.
The unveiled Hyundai Ioniq 5 N NPX1 was dressed up in N-specific enhancements including a carbon front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear wing spoiler, lightweight hybrid carbon wheels, high-performance brake pads, and lowering springs.
In addition, the show car’s interior flaunts Alcantara material and racing bucket seats.
The prototype N Performance Parts applied to the NPX1 concept will be further developed for production in preparation for sales in 2024, the Seoul-headquartered firm noted. Starting with the Ioniq 5 N, Hyundai N will expand the availability of N Performance Parts products for all N models.
“In 2024, Hyundai Motor Company will take a step forward as a leader in new tuning parts suitable for the high-performance EV era as demonstrated with the ‘NPX1’ concept model,” said Hyundai N Brand Management Group Vice President Joon Park.
“Not limited to tuning parts, we are also developing software customization such as sound and vehicle calibration by OTA (over-the-air) updates which will open a completely new category of EV (electric vehicle) customization for an exciting future ahead for the tuning community,” he added.
