Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Makes World Premiere at Goodwood Festival of Speed

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the high-performance, all-electric Ioniq 5 N at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N heralds the electrification future of the N brand as its first all-electric model.

“Hyundai N spearheads the technological leadership of Hyundai Motor Company. N brand’s winning combination of technological know-how and motorsport experience is pushing the limits of vehicle performance, which has most recently resulted in Ioniq 5 N, a game-changer for electric high performance. Key developments around this vehicle will further strengthen the competitiveness of all Hyundai models going forward. This is why N brand exists,” Hyundai Motor Company President and Chief Executive Officer Jaehoon Chang stated.

By combining the standard model's Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with N's motorsport-bred technologies and utilizing N's expertise from electrified “Rolling Labs,” the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N maximizes the electric vehicle's high-performance capabilities and ensures that it adheres to N's three performance pillars: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar.

The body in-white (BIW) structure of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has been improved with the addition of 42 additional welding points and 2.1 meters of additional adhesives. The front and rear subframes are beefed up for lateral rigidity, and the motor and battery mounting are reinforced. The 21-inch forged aluminum wheels, along with the integrated drive axles (IDA) fitted both front and rear, reduce unsprung mass while enhancing their ability to withstand stronger electric motor torque.

This powerful electric vehicle benefits from a number of technical advancements. When the N Grin Boost is activated, its electric motors can spin up to 21,000rpm and produce 650ps. This is due to the new 84kWh battery's two-stage inverter, which boosts energy efficiency for higher power output.

The integrated N e-shift and N Active Sound + in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N help deliver a dynamic shift sensation and impassioned driving. N e-shift gives the driver a sense of control over power delivery and shift feeling while N Active Sound + works collectively to provide not just a futuristic electric vehicle sound but also ICE-like engine and exhaust sounds that enhance the driving experience. They simultaneously heighten the thrill and exhilaration of driving by replicating the jolt sensation and sound of an ICE vehicle.

Just like the standard Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N incorporates sustainable materials all throughout its body, including recyclable paperette door decorative garnish, BIO PET yarn made from sugarcane, recycled PET yarn made from recycled PET bottles, BIO TPO made from sugarcane, and eco-processed leather. In addition, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N features recycled poly Alcantara seat covers and recycled tire pigment paint.
