Jaecoo 7 previewed in Malaysia, is PH next?

MANILA: The Jaecoo 7 has been previewed in Malaysia ahead of its launch in the Philippines.

The sport utility vehicle (SUV) will be the first model to be offered by the Chery-owned brand in the Philippine market.

Jaecoo is set to be launched in the country this year along with its sister brand, Omoda.

Positioned to deliver outstanding off-road performance as well as an “intelligent cabin” that will establish efficient human-vehicle interaction, the Jaecoo 7 ensures a worry-free and safe drive in a variety of road conditions.

Under the hood of the Malaysian-spec Jaecoo 7 is a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine that produces up to 197 horsepower and 290 Newton-meters of torque. It is mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

The SUV is available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants, and can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in eight seconds.

Inside, the vehicle features a clever cabin with a 14.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a head-up display, a wireless phone charging pad, and a panoramic sunroof.

Now that Jaecoo has officially entered the Malaysian market, it is only a matter of time until it launches in the Philippines.
