Jeep Revived Its Military Heritage With Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute Concept
MANILA: Jeep, the renowned American brand which is moreover known for its power and performance-centric SUVs, is back in the news and this time for right reasons. Let's remind you that a couple of months ago, Jeep hit the headlines when it issued a recall notice for Wrangler over faulty airbags. Earlier to that, 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee had issues with wiring harness terminal and was recalled for rectification. Back to the present. Jeep has completed 75 years of its existence in the automotive market and is super excited to share this wonderful achievement with the rest of the world. Jeep was established in the year 1941 and received a contract to supply Willy Jeep during World War II to the U.S government, which was among its first orders.
To mark the 75th anniversary, Jeep has staged a special edition which truly defines its legacy and heritage of 75 years. The American marque has decided to pay tribute to the first lot of military vehicles which made it popular. Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute Concept – the newest thing is rugged, looks like a true off-roader and reminds of the first ever lot for the military, but, sadly this concept may not see the road and is built to pay tribute.
The new concept is based on Jeep Wrangler Sport and has been painted olive green to make it look like a military vehicle. The absolutely versatile looking Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute Concept has 419 area code stenciled on the bumper. Also, you can see the date imprinted on the hood to record this historic date. To match the off-roading structure, Jeep has fixed 16-inch steel wheels with 32-inch military tires wrapped around them. There are exposed steel front and rear bumpers at exterior while the interior has got canvas wrapped seats.
Talking about the powertrain of the Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute Concept, the American brand has gifted a power packed 3.5-litre Pentastar V6 power-unit to this unique 4x4 drive concept. The said engine is capable of delivering 290 PS of peak power along with 347 Nm of maximum torque. Mated with 6-speed gearshift, if the same concept comes in a production model, surely the American company would have to work overtime to meet the requirements.
With this, Jeep has taken one big decision to enhance the production of its highly selling Wrangler and Cherokee models. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is all set to spend a big amount worth $1 billion to establish a new production facility at Illinois for Cherokee and transfer the production of Wrangler solely to Ohio assembly plant. If everything falls in place, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee model would arrive from the new assembly plant. Surely, Jeep is up to big things and that's a good news for the auto enthusiasts. The only news we await is now for the announcement of the production model of Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute Concept!
