Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: Features explained
The Jeep Wrangler needs no introduction, for this purely focused off-roader has gained a lot of attraction among the off-road circuits and enthusiasts over the years.
And when the Rubicon variant is taken into consideration, things get even more interesting and spicier.
The most off-road oriented as well as the flagship variant of Jeep Wrangler, the Rubicon is meant to take you to places where a common vehicle can’t even dare or dream to trace.
Moreover, there are several features which make the Rubicon variant special and premium over the other lower positioned variants of the Jeep Wrangler. Following is a brief description of the features of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Exterior features
On the outside, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is designed in such a way that it looks instantly ready to break onto the off-road paths. The thing which catches one’s attention the most are the bold ‘Rubicon’ decals on the sides of the front bonnet. The Wrangler Rubicon also gets body-colored fender flares and removable doors to make the SUV look even more hardcore. The doors, however, come with roll-up power windows.
You do get two alloy wheel options, both of which are 17-inch units. At the rear, the Rubicon gets Freedom Top black 3-piece modular hardtop with rear wiper/washer, rear defroster, and Freedom Panel storage bag.
The Rubicon also gets a removable Sunrider soft top in black vinyl, cargo anchors with Trail Rail ready inserts, LED fog lamps, LED reflector headlamps, LED tail lamps, daytime running lamps and, automatic headlamp levelling.
Interior features
Step into the cabin and you will be impressed by the way Jeep has managed to keep the things quite modern while keeping the traditional simple and no-nonsense theme intact on the Wrangler Rubicon. While it is far from glitz and glamour of other similarly priced soft-roader SUVs, it still packs in some very nice features to justify its premium positioning.
The Wrangler Rubicon gets three upholstery and trim options. First is the Maddox embossed Cloth in Black with embroidered Rubicon logo, Rubicon red accent stitching, and either painted red or silver platinum mid-bolster. Then there is the McKinley Leather-trimmed in black with embroidered Rubicon logo, Rubicon red accent stitching, and either painted red or silver platinum mid-bolster. Finally, there is McKinley Leather-trimmed in Heritage Tan with embroidered Rubicon logo, Light Tungsten accent stitching, and painted Silver Platinum mid-bolster.
The two-door variant of the Wrangler Rubicon also gets a fold and tumble removable rear bench seat with fold-down headrests for improved visibility. The interior cabin of this hardcore SUV is washable and gets utility bits like the full centre console, rear in-floor storage bin, and Torx tool kit for top and door removal. Other comfort and convenience features on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon include cruise control,
leather-wrapped steering wheel, power heated outside rearview mirrors, auto dimming inside rear view mirror, 7-inch MID screen, 7-inch UConnect touch screen infotainment system which integrates Alpine Premium Sound System with 9 speakers including an all-weather subwoofer, 552 W amplifier and 220-amp alternator, dual-zone automatic climate control, two 12 V power outlets and a 115 V auxiliary power outlet and keyless entry with push-button start.
Powertrain
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon specs reveal two engine options. First up, under the hood of the masculine looking Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is a well suited 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 274 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. Then there is the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine that belts out 289 PS of power and 353 Nm of torque.
Both of these engines get an 8-speed automatic transmission. With an excellent Rock-Trac 4x4 system to complement this powerful performance numbers, the Wrangler Rubicon also boasts off the 3rd-Generation Dana 44 heavy-duty axles with Tru-Lok front and rear locking differentials.
Safety features
Despite being an old school vehicle, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has been blessed with some premium and sophisticated safety features. The list here includes ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC),
front and rear park assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), front and side airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring Display, Sentry Key antitheft engine immobilizer, remote proximity entry and blind spot and cross-path detection.
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon price in the Philippines ranges from Php 3.99 million to Php 4.09 million for the regular Wrangler and Php 4.39 million to Php 4.49 million for the Wrangler Unlimited.
