Kia flaunts Blind-Spot View Monitor in all-new Euro Sorento
MANILA: Drivers of the all-new Kia Sorento will have an extra set of eyes as the Korean automaker equips the SUV with Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) technology. This is to increase safety by eliminating right- and left-side blind spots.
The Sorento is the first Kia model in Europe to introduce this advanced driving assistance feature. It uses the new 12.3-inch full-digital 'Supervision' instrument panel that displays feed on the left or right side of the TFT-LCD instrument panel, depending on the direction of the turn signal. The video feed from discreet wide-angle, high-resolution cameras replaces either the speedometer or tachometer dial display (or the hybrid system gauge in Sorento Hybrid models).
The 'Supervision' cluster of the Kia is equipped with a high-definition 1920x720 pixel monitor that replaces the traditional tachometer and speedometer dials with one seamless display. It also integrates digital dials for engine and vehicle speeds.
A multi-purpose display between dials also shows comprehensive trip information, audio details, and turn-by-turn navigation instructions. It also includes pop-up notifications and vehicle diagnostics alerts connected to the different active driver-assist and safety technologies of the vehicle.
