Land Rover Defender to be a History Soon
MANILA: The beastly, the boxy and the beloved Land Rover Defender which made its own mark in automotive industry for almost seven decades is now soon going to be a history. Yes, the Jaguar Land Rover will end its production by early next year. Said as a utilitarian workhorse, the car was loved by all, may it be British Royal family or farmers alike. The car has remained virtually unchanged since its inception in 1947.
The slabs of aluminum, the windshield with virtually no tilt, the roof racks, and the spare tire hanging off the back door are all the distinguished features of it. The uncompromising approach of Defender has indeed impressed people over time but now since other SUVs are coming up with bunch of safety feature and cabin amenities like airbags, touchscreen infotainment, and mobile connectivity, our Land Rover Defender sails as a simple off-road vehicle only with its old school facilities and looks.
The brand is not considering to make it a modern SUV where Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover's head of engineering himself said that it is a time to move to a new chapter, to move forward with a new car. The brand will stop its run in this coming January and no information of its replacement has been surfaced yet.
