MIAS 2019: Curtain drops on the Php 3.24 million 2019 Hyundai Palisade
MANILA: The MIAS Wired 2020 is underway with much hustle & bustle. In the meantime, Hyundai has also been busy unveiling some of the newest models for the Philippines, yet. With the Kona EV showcasing the Korean brand’s motive to head towards a more electrified future in the region,
what was missing was a large crossover SUV for conventional buyers. That wish has now been fulfilled with the launch of the all-new 2019 Hyundai Palisade – the company’s flagship SUV. Where the smaller Kona EV costs Php 2,388,000, the gargantuan Palisade comes in at a cool PhP 3,240,000.
The 2019 Hyundai Palisade shares much of its underpinnings with its similarly-sized Kia Telluride cousin. Just as with the Kia, the Hyundai Palisade comes with three rows with seats for seven occupants. The Hyundai also differs from its Kia sibling when it comes to its design – both exterior and interior. On the outside, the new Hyundai Palisade is nowhere near as boxy and rugged-looking as its Kia counterpart.
In fact, the softer lines and smooth curves of the Palisade look undeniably more urbane and sophisticated in comparison. As for its dimensions, the Hyundai Palisade measures 4,981 mm, 1,976 mm, 1,750 mm, and 2,901 mm in length, width, height, and wheelbase, respectively.
The vast interior of the Hyundai Palisade boasts of an entirely different design and layout for steering wheel, dashboard, centre stack, and infotainment head unit. Just as with other modern Hyundais, the all-new Palisade comes loaded with tonnes of comfort and safety features as standard.
For the price, you can expect a full leather interior, electrically-assisted seats, multi-zone climate control, power tailgate, automatic LED headlights, heads-up display, wireless charging pad, a 10.25-inch touch-infotainment system with navigation and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a high-fidelity sound system.
Under the beefy bonnet of the 2019 Hyundai Palisade is a 2.2-litre turbocharged four-banger from the new Santa Fe. This mill produces 197 hp with 441 Nm of torque, and directs them to all fours via an 8-speed automatic transmission. In the Philippines, the Palisade will compete against the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, and Ford Explorer.
