Subaru Forester grabs a perfect 5-star rating in JNCAP
MANILA: Subaru vehicles have always been as safe as a house, haven’t they? And the Forester has without a doubt been the leader of the fleet. In a test conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the National Agency for Automotive Safety and Victim's Aid (NASVA), the 2018-2019 edition of the Japan-spec Subaru Forester clinched a perfect 5-star safety rating. On top of that, the SUV was also bestowed with the Grand Prix Award by the Japan New Car Assessment (JNCAP).
For starters, the Japanese SUV scored 58.46 points in the occupancy protection test. Moving on, while the Forester scored 34.08 points in pedestrian protection, it hit the score of 4.0 thanks to its pedestrian seat belt reminders which come for both the front and the rear passengers.
Not only the SUV’s structure and the body were strong enough to protect the occupants from the collision, an array of safety equipment like driver-front passenger-side-curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and stability control also aided in enhancing the safety quotient of the SUV.
Furthermore, Subaru has also taken care of the pedestrian’s safety. There is a sensor in the front bumper of the Forester which detects whether the car has collided with a pedestrian. In case the SUV hits a pedestrian, airbags are deployed on the SUV’s wipers and at the bottom of the front pillars in order to minimise the impact on the head of the pedestrian. With Forester, Subaru has won the 2018-2019 Grand Prix Award in JNCAP collision safety performance assessment for the second time. The automaker’s Impreza had already secured the award earlier in the 2016-2017 assessment.
However, the award is not the end for Subaru in developing even more efficient and effective safety technologies. The Japanese manufacturer says to keep evolving its 'all-around safety' principle which includes an array of primary, active, passive, and pre-crash safety technologies. Did you know the Japanese automobile manufacturer is offering “Subaru Care Maintenance Program” at its authorised dealerships which makes maintaining a Subaru even more affordable? Check out here.
