Subaru Launches 3 Variants of 2016 Forester for The Philippines
MANILA: Despite the infamous city chaos, the Bangkok International Motor Show was a treat for the Philippine buyers as they receive 3 Trims for the 2016 Subaru Forester. As the manufacturers struggled not to get lost in the crumbling Thai capital, they launched three trims for their latest compact crossover namely 2.0i-L, 2.0i-Premium and the 2.0XT for the Philippine buyers. The 2.0i models have been assembled at the Tan Chong plant located in Malaysia, while the 2.0XT will be imported from the manufacturing facility in Japan.
The all-new Forester is also offered with two choices in body styles, with the 2.0i-L model having a slightly longer length and an updated front fascia. The other two variants however are presented with the same face and shorter overall length. The headlamps and the front grille remains standard on all three and bears the familiar Subaru insignia. The new SUV by the premium Japanese automakers was already a subject of high levels anticipation even though the 2016 Forester was only a mild refresher to the existing design. Same set of brooding headlamps are provided across all variants with the new additions to the rear that add sportiness to the vehicle.
But no matter what the cosmetic change might be, the main reason why Subaru vehicles have always exited the buyers and autofans is their unique drivetrain. Like all vehicles in their fleet, the 2016 Subaru Forester is also equipped with a 2.0-litre boxer engine that delivers around 150 units of horsepower on the first two variants. The Japanese built ‘XT’ model for however, is equipped with a direct injection system and turbocharger that enhances its output to a thundering 240 hp. The addition of a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission and a 4-wheel drive system is also limited to the 2.0-XT model that provides it with highly enhanced handling and driving comfort. The Japanese model for the new Forester is also made with biodegradable intensive assembly that shows how the manufacturers take environmental impact seriously. All the models will be available for booking from the 7th of April, across all Subaru outlets in the Philippines.
