The 2020 Peugeot 5008: A million Php cheaper French beauté

MANILA: French cars are not as eminent as the French wines and this might be because of the price tag they both share. But this is not the case with Peugeot, they tend to produce cars under common people’s budget even while wearing that French gown. To be precise, this is just the gown(or brand name) that it carries because the 2020 Peugeot 5008 is produced here in Malaysia.

Very few are aware of the fact that Peugeot produces F1 engines too and to develop this kind of technology requires some serious ‘moolah’. With sales declining, Peugeot decided to manufacture their vehicles locally and bring up the sales number as this would help to keep the price tag more affordable.

And this did work, Peugeot managed to bring down the prices of its all-new Peugeot 5008 by Php 1 million, a drastic pull. Unlike BMW Philippines, Peugeot did come up with some practical changes like the addition of 18-inch alloy wheels and laced it with full-leather interiors.

The worth-mentioning addition is the full-length panoramic sun-roof which slaps with SUV with some much-needed opulency. To spruce things up a bit, Peugeot fitted this lady with ambient lighting too, talk about French wine now, huh? This seven-seater Crossover still maintains its heritage and does not deviate itself towards the SUV arena.

The important addition worth noticing in Peugeot 5008 spec is the ‘ADAS’ also called Advanced Driver Safety Assistance Systems, which is an amalgamation of top-shelf safety features provided by Peugeot. ADAS includes features such as active blind-spot detection system, advanced driver attention alerts, lane keep assist, speed limiter and adaptive cruise control.

Powering the mill is a 1.6-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder engine that produces 165ps of power and 240Nm of torque(Pretty decent). Peugeot 5008 price ranges from Php 2,190,000 to PHP 2,200,000, which is quite competitive if we compare it with the likes of Honda CR-V SX i-DTEC which is priced at Php 2,138,000 and Toyota RAV4 LTD with a price tag of Php 2,203,000.
