Toyota Land Cruiser gets bigger muscles via TRD

MANILA: Okay, we know we have already said this like a hundred times, but we need to utter the word again. SUVs are all the rage these days and with the competition becoming stiffer than ever before, the automakers need to either bring out new models or revamp their existing offerings in order to keep them relevant in the market. Today, there are two elephants in our room. The Toyota Land Cruiser and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Interestingly, both come from the land far away, Russia.

While the Japanese Land Cruisers were already having TRD options to spice things up in Japan, Toyota Russia has now released its own set of TRD packages for the two Land Cruiser SUVs. The automaker has even published separate videos of the two SUVs showing off their newest ornaments. So, no matter how old the Land Cruiser lineup maybe, the TRD packages will certainly act as the catalyst in enticing new customers.

Let’s start off with the Toyota Land Cruiser, the SUV now boasts a dark grey split bar design at the front instead of the signature chrome-lined, three-bar arrangement. There are new larger alloys which come wearing TRD wheel caps. Moreover, bright red TRD badging, bulky and sporty front and rear bumpers, and a rear bumper lower grille make their way to the SUV.

On the other hand, the Land Cruiser Prado gets the same alloys as before but with TRD wheel caps. Other changes are similar to what the Land Cruiser gets, i.e., revisited front and rear bumpers which now look much bolder and sporty. The Prado also gets its own bright red TRD badges at both front and rear.

So, the Toyota Land Cruiser might now be a decade old SUV, however, small updates like this TRD kit keep the SUV fresh and helps it stay in contention in the market. Let’s hope for Toyota Philippines to bring out TRD kit for the Land Cruiser in the near future.
