Toyota Rush: What makes it most desired Car of Philippines

Toyota Rush: What makes it most desired Car of Philippines

The Toyota Rush debuted a few years back as a contender in the local small SUV segment. Largely dominated by the likes of fellow Japanese models, the Mitsubishi Xpander and Honda BR-V, the Rush entered the market as a cross between the Toyota Avanza and the Toyota Fortuner.

The new version comes in two variants: the 1.5 E and 1.5 G. Both are powered by the same engine found in the Toyota Avanza and can be mated to either a 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission. We listed the engine specs below:

Specs 1.5 G 1.5 E
Model 2NR-VE
Type 4 Cylinder, In-line, 16 Valve DOHC, Chain Drive with Dual VVT-i
Power 102 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Torque 134 Nm @ 4,200 rpm
Fuel Supply Electric Fuel Injection
Fuel Capacity  45 L

Compared to previous generations, the all-new Rush was reinvented as a more modern vehicle aimed at millennial buyers. Despite being an entry-level SUV, the Rush has the same build quality as its premium UV offerings, making it an attractive choice for those on a budget. The highlight of the vehicle would have to be its now larger seating capacity and trunk space.

However, with so many to expect from the new version, we listed the top things that made us fall in love with the latest Toyota Rush.

Flexible seating configurations

Toyota came through by improving the seating capacity on the Rush. The new version now has an added third row of seats, giving customers a new seven-seater option. However, this can only be found in the G variant.

The E variant still has the same five-seater layout, but the larger dimensions of the vehicle do give it bigger trunk space compared to the other. Both vehicles come with numerous cubby holes, cup holders, and storage spaces for added convenience.

Looks as good as a Fortuner

Toyota took inspiration from the RAV4 and the Fortuner when they redesigned the Rush. In terms of size, the Rush sits between the Innova and the Avanza.

All variants now come with front fog lamps plus new LED headlights and taillights that make the vehicle look more imposing and cool when driving in the dark. Toyota also added a shark fin-esque antenna and rear spoiler which add to its aggressive appearance. The side body claddings and roof rails also succeed in giving it a more premium look.

The more premium G-variant has a couple more personal embellishments such as a smoked-chrome grille, roof rails, and 17-inch wheels. The E-variants, on the other hand, sport 16-inch chromes.

Advanced tech and safety features

To top off Rush’s modern transformation, Toyota included some new tech and safety features designed for the driver’s current needs. All variants are equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen display infotainment system. This already includes USB, Bluetooth, and Weblink connectivity for both iOS and Android.

Additional features in Rush specs sheet include a push-start ignition, reverse sensors, a reverse camera display with guidelines, and an Eco indicator that monitors both your environmental impact and fuel efficiency.

Toyota also added more airbags with airbags now included for the driver, passenger, front side, and curtain shield. The Rush is also equipped with traction control, hill start assist, an emergency stop signal. The premium G-variant also offers a smart entry feature.

For the budget conscious

Despite sharing similar vehicle dimensions, seating capacity, and power capacity with the Mitsubishi Xpander and Honda BR-V, the Toyota Rush still maintains the lowest price offering between the three.

SUVs are typically one of the more expensive segments in the Philippines. The Rush succeeds in offering an SUV that is both affordable and compact. The model is ideal for those who want a vehicle more premium than the Toyota Avanza but less expensive than the Toyota Fortuner.

We listed the Rush price for each variant below:

Toyota Rush price list in Philippines -

Toyota Rush 1.5 E MT Php 968,000
Toyota Rush 1.5 E AT Php 1,008,000
Toyota Rush 1.5 G AT  Php 1,100,000

Those who prefer an automatic transmission for the E-variant will have to shell out a little more compared to the manual version. However, the prices between the E AT-variant are not far from the premium G AT-variant.

Those who are interested in the E-variant could consider the G-variant and take advantage of the extra seating capacity it. Considering that their price points are relatively close, choosing between either variant really comes down to how much seating and trunk capacity your need.

The Toyota Rush returned to the compact SUV segment as a strong contender. Its modern redesign, spacious cabin, and affordable prices had us falling in love. For those who are interested in an entry-level SUV in Philippines, the Toyota Rush might be the one for you.
