Volvo XC40 hailed as ‘Best Car for Towing’ in 2022 Auto Trader New Car Awards

MANILA: The award-winning Volvo XC40 has been named Best Car for Towing in the 2022 Auto Trader New Car Awards.

To determine the winners, over 150,000 UK motorists rated their cars across key ownership and lifestyle criteria, making the XC40 a true consumer champion.

Auto Trader Editorial Director Erin Baker stated, “Safety, comfort and quality were the top attributes for consumers searching for the best car for towing, and it was the Volvo XC40 that ticked all three boxes this year, offering a premium interior, great technology, a small footprint and that all-important ability to tow.”

The XC40 was also praised by car owners for its excellent driving performance and safety features, which Auto Trader called “the hallmark of Volvo.”

Although the XC40 is the smallest SUV in Volvo's lineup, it is not short on power. The capacity for towing a braked trailer extends up to 2,100 kg for the 197-hp petrol-powered, all-wheel-drive B4 variant. Meanwhile, the 408-hp Recharge Twin all-wheel-drive variant can tow caravans or braked trailers weighing up to 1,800 kg, making the new generation of pure electric Recharge XC40s great tow cars.

While this performance level is expected from an SUV, the XC40's stunning Scandinavian style, peace of mind offered by its various safety features, and smart technologies for on-board connectivity, comfort, entertainment, and information add to the appeal.

The XC40's towing capability is complemented with ample luggage space, with 452 liters in the load compartment with all seats in place and up to 1,328 liters with the rear seats folded down. Roof boxes, which offer up to 500 liters of additional storage capacity, as well as bike and ski carriers are among the load-carrying accessories that can be added.
