Cabin check: what's inside the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

Mercedes-Benz Philippines, under the distributorship of Inchcape Philippines, has added the all-new EQE Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to its portfolio of fully electric vehicles. As such, local buyers who are looking to enter the world of luxury EVs have another option.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the range of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV?

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV has a Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) range of up to 628 kilometers.
  • What is the price of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV in the Philippines?

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is priced at P7.19 million in the Philippines.
  • But what can prospective buyers of the EQE SUV expect to see when stepping inside its cabin? Let’s find out.

    Luxurious yet practical

As expected from the German luxury carmaker, the EQE SUV’s interior space is brimming with luxury. From the high-quality materials used on the leather seats and on the soft touch-points down to the wood trim on the dash, everything works together to create a certified plush cabin that will pamper its occupants, whether on road trips or on a mere romp in the city.

Despite its luxury, though, nothing inside the vehicle feels too opulent. In fact, every single bit inside serves a purpose. The chunky and comfortable center console, for instance, serves in equal parts as a storage bin and as an elbow rest. The control arrangement on the center console looks easy to the eyes but is within easy reach and logically arranged.

Its digital displays are also neatly arranged and integrated seamlessly into the vehicle’s dash, which gives the driver great forward visibility.

Plus, the EQE SUV also has a generous trunk space of 580 liters, which is more than enough for a couple of day's bags or groceries. Moreover, the said space can be expanded to fit longer or larger items thanks to the vehicle’s 60:40 split-folding seats. Cargo loading is likewise easier on the EQE SUV thanks to its power tailgate.

    Screens are aplenty

The EQE SUV’s dashboard's shining centerpiece is its MBUX hyperscreen, which Mercedes-Benz says features 56 inches of display real estate. The latter was achieved thanks to the seamless linking of three displays: a 17.7-inch central screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen.

While its size is already impressive, the MBUX hyperscreen is backed up by heavy-duty hardware as well. According to the brand, it uses eight central processing unit (CPU) cores and 24 gigabytes of Random Access Memory (RAM). The latter ensures seamless usage with no lags or stuttering. Plus, all screens boast a scratch-resistant layer for added durability.

For its user interface (UI), the MBUX inside the EV model utilizes what was dubbed the “Zero Layer” system. The latter prioritizes the most important data, from navigation to entertainment. If the latter wasn’t enough, Mercedes-Benz also gave the said infotainment system access to artificial intelligence (AI). Thanks to AI, the car can learn one’s preferences and habits over time. Think of it as a digital concierge who can make every journey personalized to one’s liking.

Smartphone connectivity for the EQE SUV’s screens is provided by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sound, meanwhile, is fed to the cabin by a 15-piece Burmester 3D sound system.

Keeping one’s devices aboard the EQE SUV topped-up on power is done without a hitch, thanks to its wireless charging pad. Moreover, the vehicle gets a lot of USB ports as well.

    A driver’s best friend

Apart from providing the utmost comfort to passengers, the EQE SUV also offers many benefits to its drivers. Its seats, for instance, are electronically adjustable, so finding one’s preferred position is a breeze. The seats likewise have ample bolstering to keep a driver secured and planted during spirited driving.

As mentioned, the EQE SUV gets a huge digital gauge cluster for optimized information conveyance. The screen shows crucial driving information and EV-related data such as range and charge levels. The latter is then supported by a digital heads-up display visible from the vehicle’s windscreen on the driver’s seat.

The Driver Assistance Package is also available on the EV. The latter is a collection of safety features, but its Cruise Control with Speedtronic may also become a stress reliever, especially during long road trips and highway runs. It can maintain a safe distance from a vehicle ahead while reducing driver fatigue caused by constant speed adjustments via the SUV’s throttle and brakes.

Parking the EQE SUV, too, is easy thanks to its electronic parking brake, 360-degree view camera, and an array of parking sensors. The Mercedes-Benz Guard 360, in turn, ensures peace of mind for owners of the said vehicle. The latter consists of a burglar alarm, an interior motion sensor, and a tow-away protection system.

However, if one needs to get into the Mercedes-Benz EV model and start driving quickly, there’s also a keyless entry system and a push-to-start button.

Last but not least is the EQE SUV’s ability to enhance one’s mood. These qualities of the said model come from its active ambient lighting system and its Air-balance package. According to the brand, the Air-balance package filters out nasty odors while providing pleasant smells for the EQE SUV’s cabin. It can likewise ensure good air quality inside the EV, courtesy of an air ionizer and charcoal filters.

    Conclusion

Without a doubt, the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV lives up to the brand’s age-old reputation of providing plush rides. On top of that, it manages to keep it contemporary thanks to all the tech and features it gets. The screens alone can be a magnet for tech geeks who only want the best infotainment systems available. Regardless, regulars of the SUV market can also appreciate the amount of trunk space and elbow room the vehicle provides.

For those curious, the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV comes with an introductory price of P7.19 million.
