Revised Bentley Bentayga boasts complement of tech, design upgrades

MANILA: On June 30, Bentley revealed the details of the new Bentley Bentayga, which the UK brand presents as the definitive luxury SUV.

It is also the first vehicle introduced under the Beyond100 business plan of the auto brand. With over 20,000 Bentayga units produced since it debuted, the new Bentayga expected to expand on an impressive success story.

As a combination of the features of an off-roader, expansive family vehicle, luxury limousine, and performance grand tourer, the new Bentayga follows the mantle of its predecessor in terms of having the most extensive brief in any car that is currently on sale.

A new exterior design takes on the Bentley design DNA, which is currently widespread across the whole model range. This provides Bentley the most modern and tastiest product family of any luxury auto brand. As the newest onboard technology will be introduced, the new interior and exterior of the new model are considerably revamped.

The new Bentayga takes pride in its dynamic appeal, which acquires inspiration from the new design language of the marque, launched in the all-new Flying Spur and the third-generation Continental GT.

Altogether, the three vehicles establish a new family that is more visually linked than before. The bold design provides a striking road presence, with each panel at the front of the car reconfigured for a more modern and cleaner appeal.

The assertive and larger matrix grille is more upright, while new, intelligent LED matrix headlamp technology includes the iconic Bentley design that is inspired by cut crystal glassware.

A more aggressive front bumper highlights the performance attributes of the vehicle. The heated, wet-arm windscreen wipers with 22 washer jets in every arm are also included for the first time.

At the rear area, the new Bentley Bentayga has gone through a dramatic change, with a complete revamp of the rear surfaces, including a new full-width tailgate armed with new encapsulated lamps. The license plate has also been placed into the bumper for a neater look.

One of the reasons why it is also regarded as a powerful performance vehicle is the presence of broad, split tailpipes. A 20-mm increase to the rear track width delivers dynamic reposition and benefit on the wheels in their arches to enhance the stance of the vehicle. The wheels are also of a unique design.

The new model will debut initially in Bentayga V8 appearance, providing supercar performance balanced with daily usability, with the plug-in Hybrid and W12-powered Speed versions to follow within the year. The V8’s 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged petrol engine generates a remarkable 770Nm and 542hp .

The exceptional interior of the Bentayga has also acquired a few modifications, such as a new steering wheel and center fascia, all-new seats, and new door trims. It also includes ventilation in the rear part of the five-seat cabin option. Rear passengers may enjoy a more expansive space, as its legroom has been enhanced by up to 100mm, depending on the design.

A next-generation infotainment system is incorporated smoothly into the handcrafted, Bentley “wing” dashboard design, and it has a 10.9-inch digital display screen with edge-to-edge dynamic and high-resolution graphics that can be redesigned according to the preferences of the driver.

The latest software and hardware deliver all-new navigation with an online search, satellite maps, and other features. Wireless Apple CarPlay becomes a standard for the first time, along with the current wired system and Android Auto (market-dependent). Rear seat passengers can take advantage of a new, larger touchscreen remote control tablet, which is similar to the one included in the all-new Flying Spur.

Connectivity around the vehicle has been considerably enhanced, with a wireless phone charger and USB-C data ports as a standard.

The new Bentayga is currently offered with an embedded SIM, same with the latest Continental GT models, which means that My Bentley connected vehicle features no longer need customers to provide their data connection.

My Bentley in-car and remote services are also deemed as a continuously developing selection of services, which is made available for customers through an exclusive app, accessible both on Android and Apple iOS mobile platforms.

The luxurious interior can be enriched through the application of dark tint diamond brushed aluminum trim. Aside from this, two straight-grained veneers that are new to the Bentayga are also present, and these include Crown Cut Walnut and Koa.

Mulliner Driving Specification contributes micro piping detailing and a new quilting design as a new option for the seats of the Bentayga.
