Here are the GWM Tank’s 2 monochromatic color options

Great Wall Motors (GWM) Philippines released the Tank sport utility vehicle (SUV) last year. The Chinese off-roader offers a large canvas for the two monochromatic colors that help give the nameplate a dependable and reliable appeal.

Today, we take a look at these two hues to help car buyers who are having a hard time deciding which color to get.

Jet Black

The Jet Black-colored GWM Tank not only gives the SUV a stylish and elegant look but also helps paint a powerful picture of what the nameplate is capable of.

First, the said color blends well with the vehicle’s all-LED lighting setup. That said, it gets LED headlamps, LED front fog lamps, and LED taillamps. It also emphasizes the GWM Tank’s neo-classic fascia, highlighted by a grille with horizontal slats and rounded light housings.

The chin of the off-roader looks proud and appears to have been designed to offer a good approach angle for when one needs to go off the beaten path. It also has extended fender flares that create a large enough room for its 17-inch wheels shod in 265/65 series tires.

Its rear end is equipped with a decent-sized glass for improved visibility and a spare tire mount on the swing-out tailgate. It is also noticeable how good the clearance is from the back, which could have been intended for an ample departure angle.

For reference, the GWM Tank has a minimum ground clearance of 224 millimeters (mm) and a maximum wading capability of 700 mm.

Under its hood is a two-liter, turbocharged gasoline engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transition with a part-time four-wheel drive drivetrain system. The said setup makes some 217 horsepower with 380 Newton-meters of torque — allowing the GWM Tank to make easy work of light off-roading activities.

Complementing the said powertrain setup are two drive modes (all-terrain response system and expert mode).

Iceberg White

White, as we always say, is a color that is often associated with safety. Various studies — for the uninitiated — say that white-colored vehicles are less involved in accidents compared to those finished in other hues.

On that note, the GWM Tank is equipped with plenty of safety technologies that can give one peace of mind while on — or off — the road.

These safety features include a slew of airbags and a host of seatbelts; an anti-lock brake system; electronic brake-force distribution; and automatic emergency braking with vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle, and junction assist.

It also gets driving nannies in the form of systems like adaptive cruise control, electronic stability program, intelligent cruise assist, lane keeping assist, lane center assist, traffic sign recognition, and traffic jam assist.

Customers will also be delighted with the onboard devices that are available with the GWM Tank. These include a 12.3-inch instrument cluster that displays relevant driving data and a similarly sized (12.3 inches) infotainment screen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Comfort-wise, the GWM Tank offers seats and a steering wheel finished in leather, a dual-zone air conditioning system, and a nine-speaker sound system.

Pricing, variants

The GWM Tank is available in a single variant and is priced at P2.678 million.
